Canada Post Lost My Medical

22 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

It's official, Canada Post has lost my medical results.

So I warn you all, please, please choose a shipping option that generates a tracking number. I decided to skip the $20 fedex cost as mail takes "2-3 days tops"(Post Delivery Supervisor, 9:12 am, Feb 4, 2008) to get from the Dr's office to my city.

So let that be a lesson to cash-strapped VJers that saving $20 may cost you a lot more in the end.

I do hope your Dr. can get another package off to you through a reliable courier without asking for an additional fee other than for the delivery.

I have not used Canada Post since they lost our Christmas presents two boxes and two cards from two different locations three years ago and I will not use them even if it were to send a card. They are not and never will be my favourite corporation.

You know - throughout the entire process of K1, Canada Post was always unreliable...letters from Montreal would take 10 days (such as Pkg 3 or the interview letter) I sent back several '1-2 day' guaranteed items and Canada post didn't get those done on time.

Twice I used Priority Post to send my fiancé a money order in the US - guaranteed 3-5 business days....14 days later they couldn't track it and I was ready to cancel 1....mysteriously it showed up quickly after some prodding....and I noticed online that it said it had been signed for several days earlier - so basically they lied. Even now, letter from my parents take 10 days or so on average, whereas if I send even a larger package through USPS..takes maybe a week...of course they do work an extra day :) Frankly they've given better service so far tho.

On important items (and you probably realize in hindsight) pay the extra $$...worth the peace (and piece :) ) of mind

I, myself, am engaged to a Canadian. We both went on a trip out to Cali, where his father lives (his father moved from Canada to Cali a few years ago for his job) last year, and he looked at my fiance & said, "Son, when you move to the US it will make you realize that the mail system in Canada is like that of a third world country".

I couldn't agree more. On SO many occasions things have never gotten there, including stuff our lawyer sent. We have ordered tickets before that never came in the mail, even months later. So, overall-Canada post is only used for when he gets a bill. Otherwise, as we learned long ago, Canada post is overall worthless. I dream of days my fiance can mail anything to anywhere in the USA & it will be there in 3 days or less!

I scheduled his medical this afternoon, and definitely opted for the $25 Fed Ex charge. Good luck!!!!!!!

I know for sure that they will not accept my old medical, I emailed them and asked, to which they snottily replied that if I had accepted my original date for July of last year, there would have been no problems.

The Doctor's office has assured me they have done pending approvals when medicals were done the day of the interview or when results were pending, so I am no longer worried. However, talk about a PITA.

get canadapost to issue you a letter that they in fact lost your package. then show it to the panel physicians to get a duplicate copy of your medical. if they charge to reissue, get canadapost to pay for it. i'd say go to the CEO if you have to. this is unacceptable.

I'm not a great fan of Canadapost myself.

No tracking number, no proof it was ever sent. End of story, according to the supervisor today. He wasn't mean about it, just matter-of-fact. They have no way to track it or confirm it is lost if it was sent via normal mail.

so when did you actually mail it out? if you mailed it out on Jan 24, it has only been 7 business days. it might still be floating around somewhere. I mean if expresspost has taken 5 business days for me, plus you guys were in a middle of a snow storm so you never know. if it can't be tracked then even the supervisor has no way of knowing if it's lost or what.

Regardless, I leave tomorrow morning. Whether it is still in postal land or not is moot at this point. According to the supervisor, it should have been there Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

Wish me luck, everyone.
