hey you guys is it ok if i have been on my job for a short period of time like two months? and i make about $20,000. the reason is because i got in a car accident on october of last year and i was off work until january 25, 2008. I lost my old job because of the accident so i started a new one on January 24, 2008. And i have a doctors note and a police report from the accident as a proof so I guess my question is am I gonna need a co-sponsor because i've only been on my job for a short period of time even though I make enough to support My fiancee and I? please help and thank you in advance.

They only care about your current income, so you'll be fine with regards to that. Make sure you have a letter from your employer stating the nature of your employement (full time, part time, etc) and your pay. Read the instructions for the affidavit of support.

With regards to your income level, you are within the 125% of poverty guidelines if it's only the 2 of you. If there will be more than 2 of you in your family unit then you will need a co-sponsor. Look here for the 2008 poverty guidelines.

Hello,

I am new and start with a question. (I tried to find an answer using the search before)...

My fiance and I are not sure how to interpret the instructions for the I-134. "A separate affidavit must be submitted for each person." I have a son, who is listed on the affidavit (3.) as accompanying child. Does a separate affidavit of support need to be executed for him as well or not?

 (I allow myself to post here since my fiance filed his petition in September)

Thanks a lot!

You only need to fill one I-134 out for the USC petitioner. If you have a co-sponsor, then they need to fill one out as well. The beneficiary or any children do not need to fill one out.

Thanks Chuck. We understand that my fiance as petitioner has to fill out the I-134, but the question is whether he has to fill out one for me plus one for my son - or is my son as accomanying child included.

Sorry, but even my fiance as USC is not sure how to interprete the instructions. By logic he thinks that one for me including my child should be enough, but during the procedure I have learnt better not to think logical...

Wishing you and your fiancée happy Easter - I am sure you are looking forward to next week ...must be so exciting!

Only the petitioner (USC) fills one out, not the beneficiary or child.

If the petitioner does not meet poverty guidelines and you need a co-sponsor, then the co-sponsor would have to fill one out as well.

I thought I answered it clearly the first time, but I suppose it is because I had to do my own research when I filled it out.
