Congratulations!

After you arrive and while your I-94 (you will get this at the Port of Entry) is still valid you will want to apply for a Social Security Number. You should wait for about 2 weeks after your arrival so that your paperwork has been received from your Port of Entry at Immigration offices. (SSN checks to ensure your documentation is valid).

You should also be able to apply for a driver's license with your valid I-94 and your SSN. If not, you will have to wait until after you get your employment authorization card.

After your marriage you will file the Adjustment Of Status (AOS) application along with the supporting documents. There is a detailed listing of what is involved at the top of this forum called "Applying for AOS from within the US".

You can apply for your Employment authorization and your Advance Parole (permission to leave the country while your application is pending) at the same time as the AOS. They will be valid for one year from issue.

Good luck!

Read the guide here on VJ. I used the example forms here on VJ too but make sure they are up to date forms that the USCIS requires.
