Out of Status?

I won't be posting in this forum on behalf of hubby for quite a few years, but I do have a question from a client at work.

His GC expired in November, and he hadn't submitted his papers and $$ for naturlaization beforehand,

I imagine that he is now considered out of status, but I'm wondering if that would be forgiven if he does get his papers in for naturalization.

Thoughts?

A person having a permanent resident card (Un-conditional 10 year) does not loose status upon the card's expiration, they can file for naturalization N-400 or file I-90 for a new ten-year green-card.

Agreed.... a PR is always a PR he/she just does not have the greencard to prove it.... they can still file for a new card or Citizenship at any time and the are not out of status in any way....

Was his last GC good for 10-years or was it a conditional one?
