Hello all.

I recently received the packet from the US Embassy containing filing instructions for the:

- DS-156

- DS-156 K

- DS-157

- DS- 230

And have finished all of those and are ready to send those back off.

I have a few questions concerning the dates, forms and some other minor related questions.

I currently have all these documents ready at hand to take to the interview:

------------------------------------------------

Passport

2 color photographs

Birth certificate

I-134 (from the petitioner)

Police certificate (should be here by the 16th of Jan, 40day limit, this was also according to the Subject Access Office, I will have it by that date)

------------------------------------------------

Any other forms that aren't listed up there, (E.g. Adoption Certificate, Military Record, etc) aren't needed for me.

This Friday I will have my medical examination.

We have a Co-Sponsor for our K1 journey due to the petitioner not having a job, and they are going to send the I-134 to England from America this Friday.

We have a LOT of evidence to take to the interview including:

- Phone bills: Calls

- Phone bills: Texts

- A gigantic scrapbook of me and my fiancee starting from last year (and it is still being contributed to today!)

- Receipts

- Bank statements

- Chat log archives (dating back to June 2006)

- Emails (dating back to October 2006)

- Other minor stuff such as: train tickets, tourist tickets in London (London Eye, Westminster Chapel, etc)

That is all I can think of at the moment, and of course my fiancee is comming with me to the interview :)

I am curious to know of people here that have had a interview at the US Embassy in London, how long after you sent out your packet did it take for you to get your interview notice and what date?

E.g. 01/01/2008 - Sent out packet

01/02/2008 - Interview date

- 1 month from packet send out until Interview date

Because of the mailing times from America to England, we are not sure if we should do one of these two things:

1. Upon receiving the Police Certificate, mail out the 4 DS forms to the Embassy and the checklist to let them know we are ready, and then hope we receive the I-134 from the Co-Sponsor before the Interview?

2. Upon receiving the Police Certificate, wait until we also receive the I-134 before we send out the 4 DS forms and the checklist to let them know we are ready?

The only difference in the two is the time factor.

The only reason we are asking this is because we want to get the interview date A.S.A.P, for a few reasons:

1. The petitioners mom has her graduation at the end of February.

2. The petitioners plane ticket expires at the end of February (would cost how much? to get it extended for X amount of time).

The only other reasons is that her family wants her back in America A.S.A.P too, and she is really homesick, but she is staying here until we can hopefully return home together, I quote "I am not leaving England without him". So if for whatever reasons the Visa doesn't follow through, then I would fly back with her for a 3 month visit.

I would also like to know from people that have received their K1, what you think of our current evidence that we are going to take in? Is it satisfactory enough in terms of evidence of a strong relationship? Etc

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi JakeyMatey,

How's it going? Funny I am in the same predicament as you but for different reasons of course.

I am filling out the forms & hope to mail them in the next 24 hours.

Did you not attach the passport photo's to form DS-156?

I'm not sure whether to send them in with the forms as the form instructs or to take them to the embassy for the interview as the instructions direct?

Or do we do both?

Good to know we're not alone,

I believe I remember attaching a photo to the DS-156, but then again, that was when I took in a DS-156 for the B2 visa.

I am hoping that more experienced people on here will help answer our questions :)

Will do!!! The evidence of the ongoing relationship though - how much stuff do people take? I've been told some people don't even have theirs looked at but I am thinking that a lot of our conversations at the moment are revolving around our impending non-legal wedding - that is surely going to look dodgy so we will have to go careful about what we take!! Sooo annoying!!

I wasn't asked for a single thing. He asked me the following:

1. How did we meet? I told him we met online and were originally penfriends.

2. How did we change from being penfriends to more than that? I told him that it just 'evolved' and was difficult to explain.

3. Why had we decided to live in the US rather than the UK. I told him that Scott refuses to pay our petrol prices and he wouldn't be able to bring his guns!

Then he told me that I was approved.

LMAO@3!!! That is pretty funny :D

Hmmm - I am thinking of collating all the UK interview questions and putting them on my website - maybe I will ask people to PM them to me from the UK interview thread :D

Hi,

Just a quick question for English Muffin if you are still reading this thread!..On your timeline it shows about a month before you returning P3 and receiving P4, and then your interview date is about 4 days after you receive P4. Were you able to find out your actual date before this, or did they only give you 4 days notice?

Thanks, I just sent back my P3 today and am trying to get a gauge of how long it will all take from now on..just want an interview date so i can plan my life lol!

Hi Lily. I started calling DOS about a week after I sent packet 3 back and called every day until I got my interview date. They gave it to me a few days before I received packet 4 but it was still very short notice. In my packet 3 I included a cover letter saying that I was ready for the interview and I could attend with no notice and would be prepared to fill in any cancellations that they had. I have no idea if that letter is why my interview was at such short notice or if it was just because it was around the Christmas period.

Thanks Gillian

That is such a good idea to write a letter saying you can go whenever; i shoudl have done that, but already sent it off so there you go!

Also, which DOS # did you call? I was under the impression that you had to call that expensive embassy#?

Glad your interview went well!

Lily
