The Consulates are now requiring us to fill out the DS-156 Online. Should be pretty cut and dried except for this:

Question # 22: "When Do You Intend To Arrive In The U.S.?"

Obviously we don't have a specific date at this stage, yet the online field does not allow us to type "When Visa Is Granted" as the sample form supplied on this site indicates we should.

Will a blank space be acceptable or should we (neatly) print "When Visa Is Granted"?

Yes that is acceptable, or you can just pick a date within 6 months after the visa interview, they wont hold you yo entering the USA on that specific date.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

We put in what we felt was a hopeful and within reason travel date. Thankfully, his interview is next Monday and we'll definitely meet the anticipated travel date!

As yuanddan pointed out, this is no hard and fast date that you will be held to. Good luck!

So "Blank" is acceptable? I don't have an interview date yet.

Then I suggest you wait to fill out the form, I know you are anxious and want to have everything ready now, but you can fill it out once you have an interview date, it will take you less than 5 minutes to do fill it out and print it.

Good luck ;)

I'm following the advice already given on the site and entering "When Visa Is Granted" -- rules in Canada are I have to send in this form before an interview date is assigned. One of those Catch-22s government agencies specialize in.

Thanks.
