Meetings w/ Immigration Officer - are they a waste of time

Hi, I'm 1 week away from the end of the 30 day probe into my missing application and being a pessimist am assuming I will not get a mailed response from USCIS.

So, if I make an appointment w/ an officer in San Francisco will it be a waste of time or do they have the power to lets say provide me with a new address that allows my application to receive immediate attention?

I'm not trying to jump the line here, by the time I meet with an officer it will be late January and my fellow Sept. filers should be going through in February.

Basically I'm trying to find out if they are just another brick wall of unhelpfulness or if a case deserves their attention (as I feel mine does) that they will do something about it.

They probably will be.

I don't know about inquiring about K-1's but for my husband's AOS we had to make several appointments and sometimes we were lucky to get an officer who was actually willing to do something about our case, and some would hand me an FBI fact sheet saying we were in a name check, even though that was false. One officer actually had my husband's file pulled and had another officer look it over which was really nice and very surprising. I really think it depends on who you get and how they feel that day.

Hmm, alright so basically if I have the time I can get someone to help. IE. if the first officer can't help go home and immediately reschedule....

Pretty much. I was basically in shock when they pulled our file and had someone look over it in front of us.
