wooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo!!! :D :D :D

approved, and on its way :)

I think i've ran out of stress hormones, though...

A few points:

1. The petition was approved just over 4 months ago, so it had technically expired. The only issue was that we needed a newly signed letter of intent (or, if your I-134 was filled in by your fiance(e) within the last 4 months that will do).

Unfortunately, the letter of intent printed off and signed this morning by malia didn't have a date on it. So after a bit of conferring, the consulate officers decided that I could leave the embassy (with my passport and letter) find her (she was down oxford street) and bring her back into the embassy (she'd brought her passport). After explaining ourselves at every checkpoint we finally got back in, and marched straight back up to window number 14. then in front of the officer, Malia wrote out an "I intend to marry tom" letter, having to ASK me what my birthdate was (very embarrassing!), we handed it in, and we were approved :)

2. The mysterious brown envelope was opened in front of us by the consular official. He pulled out the xray, nodded in approval (presumably at its existance, rather than its content), slid it back in the envelope and handed it to me, still open. I don't know whether its supposed to be sealed or not, I wasn't inclined to quiz the man on the specifics of his job.. He just told me to take it through on the plane in my handluggage. Its an A3 envelope and blatantly isn't going to fit in my bag without some folding operation, though.

Went in at 8.11, got out at 10.50. At home at 12.00, beer opened and downed at 12.00:01 :)

Hi,

My fiance had his interview today, Jan 2 and he was approved :)

(I just saw this thread and had updated my timeline last week with the interview date but wasn't added to the list!)

He also had his brown envelope opened by the officer, who checked the x-ray and handed the opened package back to my SO telling him to take it with him on the plane...I too thought it was meant to stay sealed until the POE but I'm hoping the officer knew what he was doing so he didn't question it.

Yay for this stage being over....Good luck to everyone with their interviews coming up....My SO was stressing but after a quick 2 minute interview, it was over and he was approved and congratulated. All those weeks of stressing and they only asked him where he worked and what he did and whether he had been to America before....
