Hello, I am new as of today. My question is about the income. I am currently on disability for my back and have been for 5 years (inoperable). I am currently short about $2000 to meet the 125% poverty income level, but I own my home valued at $172,000, free and clear. My fiancee lives in China and I understand that the Embassy at Guangzhou only requires the I-134 form which does not ask for supporting evidence of the house like the I-864 form does. I would like to use the house as part of my assets to cover the $2000 I am short in income and looking for advice about this. Help :( Should I also send her the I-864 as well as the I-134?

You can use the value of your house on the I-134. You need to show something stating that you own it and how much it is worth.

Check out the example I-134 here: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-134.pdf

Thank you ZeeNusah, would you also send the I864 at the same time?

Since you filed a K-1 you just need the I-134 for the interview.

When your fiance gets here and you file for adjustment then you use the I-864.

No, the I-864 will be needed when you file to adjust status after arrival and marriage. For Guangzhou, however, I would definitely provide the same supporting documentation you'll need for the I-864. Provide some independant assessment of value and evidence you have no mortgage. (For others with a mortgage, show the amount of the morgage, so equity can be determined.) If you have some cash in the bank too, I would document that as well. If your disability income is tax exempt, I would document that fact as well.

If you are recently divorced, be prepared to show evidence your former spouse has a separate residence and SSN, if at all possible. GUZ tends to closely scrutinize cases like yours, so be prepared. The lower the beneficiary's income, the higher the potential for fraud. I know all that sounds ridiculous but just roll with the punches and play their game. It will soon be clearly worth it.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
