Is the EAD (i-766) Valid Photo ID for domestic travel?

Hello all!

My wife has been approved for her green card, we received the "Card production ordered" email, however, we have not yet received the card. We do have in hand however, our marriage license, her EAD (i-766), and her social security card. In this light, we have some domestic travel coming up (from one US state to another US state), and we need to know whether to use her married name, or her maiden name when purchasing the tickets.

Has anyone any experience with using the EAD as just government issued photo id for domestic air travel? I know that "technically" the EAD is considered a government issued photo id, however, I'm not sure the TSA will accept it, and so I thought I'd ask everyone here for their experiences on the matter.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as we're flying out early next week.

Thanks,

Michael

I flew from Boston to Florida using my EAD back in 2005, so unless it has changed you should be ok...

I travel with my valid Canadian passport! (It still has my maiden name till I get my AOS approval).

No one ever asked about my status. Just keep your EAD and related documents with you, if it comes up.

Traveling state to state brings up - name issues - your valid document vs. your ticket what trully matters.

Do not complicate the issue, before they think you got something to hide and ruin your trip just for trying to

walk the straight and narrow path!

Hope this helps!
