How to pay for the I-485 fees?

I am gonna send out my I-485 package soon. But still not sure about where to mail and how to pay for the fees? I am a k-1 holder and living in PA. I have to send my case to Chicago Lockbox too, right? I want to use my husband's personal check to pay for the fees, since I don't want to bother to get Money orders. is that ok?

A check is better ... you will be able to tell when/if it was cashed.

I used a personal check thinking I would see the receipt number on the back and would be able to track the petition in case the NOA was late. I also sent the package to the lock box with a signature required which was sent back to me so know they had received it. I couldn't make anything of the numbers on the back of my check but the very next day after the check cleared we received the NOAs.

no you don't. Just the applican't birth certificate is needed. Not the sponsor's.
