Good evening all,

We submitted an I-751 for my wife back in April. We did not receive an NOA or a biometric appoint. We submitted a service request back in June. Their letter stated that it was still pending service. Thus since my wife's residence card expired in June we made an infopass appointment. We were able to obtain a stamp in the passport. We called several times to follow up but no response regarding the biometric appointment. In October we submitted another serviced request. We received a response, and to our surprise the original appointment letter was included. The letter stated that it was concluded that the appointment letter was lost in the mail. In November (before Thanksgiving) we went to the Biometrics office, and my wife was finger printed.

Here is the problem, today we received a letter stating that we did not fulfill the biometric step, the case was considered abandon. If we want the case to be reopen we would have to file a motion and pay $600. I find this totally absurd. We followed all the necessary steps. I called ucsic and spoke to customer service. Their response was to pay the $600. I will try again tomorrow and this time try to speak with an immigration officer. Just in case, we made an infopass appointment, as we have proof that we did not abandon the case.

Has anyone faced this type of problem??

Thanks

At the time of bio they put a stamp on the biometrics appointment letter. That's your proof that you have successfully completed the bio.

Hold on tight to the biometric proof when you go in for your infopass appointment. I would make a copy and take that along with you.

Anyway, I would certainly contact your state's senator about the issue. It's absurd that they would want you to pay $600 for their mistakes.

You've done all you could do. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

I also filed in April and never got NOA1 -- only got the Biometrics appointment after getting my congresswoman involved. It seems there was a big problem with CSC during April.

I agree with the other people here that you should not have to pay $600 to get this done. The problem will be getting through to the right people though. As you know, there are three ways to contact USCIS: (1) the national service center (phone number), (2) the service center where you filed (mail), and (3) your local sub-office (in person). The problem is that communication between those three touch points is absolutely horrible, so even with an Infopass appointment at your local suboffice you can't be sure that the correct info will get to the service center where you filed -- which is where it needs to be.

I would also encourage you to contact your local congressperson. They are really helpful with this kind of stuff. And just from my personal experience (could be different for you though) I wouldn't place a lot of hope in getting this fixed on your own. Good luck!
