I have read online that when a non-peruvian tourist get a hotel room, we are exempt from IGV. When i stayed at THE PUEBLO HOTEL, this applied. Same when i went to Marriot en Larcomar.

But this past weekend i went to LOS MIRTOS hotel & SUITES in LINCE, really nice, but they did not want to waive the 19% IGV charges.

My question is: Are all Hotels and Suites requieres to exempt the 19% to Americans or turists? If they dont.. how can i report them?

Any info would be greatly appreacited,.

It looks like a foreigner is exempt from the IGV for the first 60 days. Foreign residents are not exempt.

"Peruvian citizens and foreigner residents in Peru must add 19% (IGV-Tax) to published rate"

Do I have to pay tax if I am a foreigner?

All the foreigners staying less than 60 days in Peru and showing a copy of their passport at the hotel reception will not pay tax.

Tourists don't pay taxes but I think it depends on the hotel rates....Some hotels are not very formal you know....

Weird that they don't know about tourists not paying taxes.....

I guess the prices already include the IGV?

Is it a law for them not to charge the IGV? If so, then i want to file my complaint :-)
