Note: Just to prevent any confusion, "Optional Form 171" in this packet talks about having DS-230 PART 2 completed. If you are applying for a K1 Fiance visa you do not need this and it should not have been included in your packet if it was. Not sure why they even include this form for K1 visas.

Cheap and good hotels near the Consulate? Take the Skytrain from this hotel to the embassy's Skytrain stop which is only two or three stops from the hotel. You can e-mail the hotel for reservations WITHOUT credit card guarantee but don't abuse this arrangement. Contact the hotel if you must cancel your reservation. http://www.bangkokhotels.info/honey.htm Go to the website and then click on thier e-mail address: honeyho@ksc.th.com

Harder to locate by taxis but almost as close to embassy is: http://www.bourbonstbkk.com

This one is located on Sukhumvit, soi 4. It is not a place to stay if your fiancee is with you as the girly clubs are located in the same soi.

Another thing to remember is that most hotels offer a "farang" rate and a "Thai" rate. It is often better to have your Thai fiance make the reservation via phone in her name rather than book online.
Additional Info? Police Clearance Service Center website: http://pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eservice.php

If you request the police station to mail your certificate, they send it via Thai Post EMS so you should get it in under a week. However, they don't send it until the day that you could have come to pick it up.

The police station may require proof from the beneficiary that the certificate is actually needed. They may ask for any of the following: (1) letter from the petitioner stating intention to bring beneficiary to the USA, and a photocopy of the petitioner's passport; (2) copy of NOA2, original or email version.

April 2008 - The police department is reporting a backlog on the certificate and may take 3-4 weeks to process.
