When I say this was a long time coming, it was a LOONG time coming. The whole process of sponsorship was honestly nerve wrecking and stressful. We weren't sure about a lot of things, but honestly, we took our time and completed the forms and followed all instructions and it went well. Though the process may be lengthy...it's well worth it. My interview was a couple of days ago, we stayed at a hotel in Dorval (roughly 25 mins away from consulate). A lot of the downtown hotels require a daily parking fee so we wanted to avoid that. We waited outside the building for about 10 to 15 mins (Arrived there for 7:15 am); YES your significant other is allowed inside with you. Once you show your passport to the lovely lady, she will give you a laminated sheet with the list of docs to put in order and the number that you'll be called. You pass security check and go a few steps down to wait to take an elevator up to the 19th floor. Once upstairs, you'll have your time to put your docs in the order as mentioned. Once your number is called, only the applicant can go to the window and hand in the necessary docs they request Once that is over, you'll be asked for some fingerprinting and go back and take a seat. 10 minutes later you will be called to a second window where the officer will ask you a couple of questions about your significant other and voila! All that hard work and waiting you've done, all over in a matter of 5 mins with a blue sheet that says 'Welcome to the United States'! I received my passport with my visa 2 days after my interview. Out of the whole process, the interview is the easiest. Hope this helps and good luck to all those waiting for your turn! | 2018-04-19 | ||
