My experience in Montreal was excellent. The staff are very courteous and polite. Security personnel are very straight forward, but like others have said, they are just doing their job. Just make sure not to bring items that are not allowed in the embassy, such as large bags and electronic items. The CO are also very polite and they make the interview process much less stressful than I am sure it could be. Never had an problems with receiving e-mails back and yes the lady on the phone is very to the point and brisk. Received my visa the same day and was out of the embassy by 10:15am.
Best advice is to arrive around 7:30 as it is first come, first served.

Our experience at the Vancouver consulate was way better than we had anticipated. We didn't wait outside at all, went straight up to the interview area and just waited our turn. The staff was pleasant, although a little aloof. I don't think they can possibly understand the stress we are all under on that day.
The lack of rest rooms was a bit of a problem because we were there for a couple of hours, but other than that, it went very well.
We were issued the K-1 Visa shortly after our interview was over.
They always answered our emails promptly.

Montreal was very professional and courteous. Had a very positive experience. Just be sure to not bring in any bags or electronic devices of any kind...They are very responsive to any communication that you may have either by email or phone...
Also arrive early in the morning , at about 7:30 or so, no matter what it says on your appointment letter, because it's first come, first served...

Regarding the Vancouver Consulate, I had trouble getting info by email but when I faxed them with a couple of questions they called me back within a few hours.
The day before my Interview there was a protest in front of the consulate in regards to the elections in the USA so security was max. No one was allowed to go in without waiting in turn of arrival in the line-up.
Everyone was friendly and helpful and over all, the Vancouver Consulate was a pleasant experience.
