Hi everyone,
I need an insight on this, I had my IR1 interview in Jan 2006, I turned in all documents needed and paid the fees, after a while i was called for the interview.
I was alone there (With out my wife), after meeting with the officer he said the following:
Said that I passed the interview and that i won't need to return to montreal to get my stamp anymore (I will mail my passport once they call me).
In addition, he said that there is a Check on me with the DOS that has to complete before i can get the stamp. And after asking him twice about how long that wait would be, he said around 6 months (could be more or less).
Next, He asked to provide my sponsor's new income taxs since the latest one was lower than the required poverty limit (although the two years before it where higher).
At the end, he handed me a statement that only containted info regarding the Tax update (not a problem),... read complete review

I was asked
- how did we meet
- when did we meet in person for the first time
- when did we decide to get married
- why are you moving to the USA
- tell me about him
They really don't care about anything not on the checklist, so keep it simple.

It was super easy, relatively fast and totally painless
I have to say tho there is so much information on the internet, that I called the consulate to clarify some things and was given false information...good thing I was suspicious and backed myself, or I would have been in trouble! My son is 14, the girl on the phne said he didnt have to come....I ought him, also I was told on the phone I would get my visa and stuff immediately, not hte case, it has to be mailed, make sure you bring a canada post mailer, the bigger ones, they wont be just mailing you your passport, there will be a manilla envelope with stuff in it a fairly large pkg so get the bigger one, not the biggest because they dont keep our x-rays, so it doesnt have to fit those in. ALso they told me that I would get my EAD at the border, no they dont do that anymore. The person who interviewed me had all the right answers, so it wa all good.
I think my appointment was for 9:30, it was pouring... read complete review

Oh my goodness, this was so easy.
It is an underwhelming process. I thought I'd get flags and music... no, I got only one question...
"How long have you been married?"
That was it. I waited a YEAR for this and this is all I get?
Montreal is a breeze. All the advice has been very helpful on this site.
Yeah, I'm finally moving to be with my husband!!!
