Where did you see the 9 month wait?

Actually, the 9 months as of October 2017, is for the New York City field office, your field office in the New York State could also be Long Island, Albany, Buffalo, or Queens, depending on where are you located. Buffalo had the shortest processing time, Queens the longest.

I always have this question, is the waiting period from the date of filing or the date when the I-130 PD becomes current.

I think I don't understand the question, but the date shown is actually the cases that they were processing in oct 31st, 2017, and the date is not when the i130 was neither filed or approved, I believe is the date the i485 was filed.

Lets say that my PD is current in Feb 2018 Visa bulletin and I filed for AOS in Oct 2017 using the date for filing table from Oct 2017 Visa bulletin. My question was my wait to be scheduled for the AOS interview is based on Processing times of the field office, does that wait starts after the priority date becomes current (i.e. Feb 2018) or does it start from date I filed for AOS (i.e. Oct 2017).

Most field centers have processing times of a minimum of 6 months. My question is from which date would those 6 months processing start?

I believe you have already filed for your AOS (i485) therefore you are getting the EAD

I think i understand your question now...I am thinking our PD's will be Oct 2017. Therefore we would have to wait until our field office dates say Oct 2017...and we will be approved for i485.

Sometimes I think I should have gone for consular processing. My priority date would have become current in Mar 2018 Visa bulletin and could have got the Immigrant Visa and flown back to USA getting a GC in 2-3 weeks after entry into USA. This would have been quicker than AOS. Any thoughts on this ?

my understanding is that this processing time also applies to all I-485 applicants.

I just hope that even for I-485 they don't put us (F2A categories) behind K1 like they did for EAD/AP. That would be tragic.

once you get your EAD, you shouldn't worry about how long this takes, right?

for some part i think you are right Sam, but its better if we become current fast and get our GC's or else we would have to wait for eternity again for EAD renewals :(

Not just that, sooner we get our GCs sooner we can file for citizenship and enjoy the benefits of having an American Passport. In my field having citizenship with security clearance provides better career prospects and non market dependent  risk free jobs like working for DOD etc.
