WE have been dealing with the MSP Office.  We applied on August 20, 2016, finally had the interview today August 31, 2017.  The Interview resulted with no decision being made.  I need to proved more information of a joint life and marital status since we applied on the 3 year rule.  I am not sure what else we could have provided since we sent a lot of the same material we submitted for the ROC.  Our case was an IOE, and that is one reason why it took so long.  Now it will take even longer I guess.

i am sorry to hear that your interview didnt go well. it's even worse turned out like this after 1 year of waiting. You are 3-year-rule marriage-based application. i dont understand why it took 1 year long ?!

Does IOE stand for Elis(e-filing ) ? lots of folks here chose e-filing as they seem to process faster than paper filing. but your case is quite opposite.

it definitely will drive me crazy if my file is processing at MSP office for a year.

do you think  it's because your country of origin_ Iran, is not on  their favorite countries list, so causing 1 year long to clear up the background check ?

what else reasons you think may cause your delay ?

have you tried to seek help from senator or infopass  to expedite your case?

I don't think the delay in our case had anything do do with my wife being from Iran.  I looked at the history of the interviews at MSP, saw that for the N-400 the number waiting was increasing faster than the numbers being processed and new it was going to be a wait.  Throughout this process, everything had gone smooth up to this point, our initial interview for the visa back in 2012 was delayed on our part so the initial visa took longer.  I think for the N-400 I made a mistake  by not proving a lot more material.  Now I have to find more proof, the list they provided was showing her on my lease or mortgage, but we are in no position to refinance our house, I purchased the home a few years before she come to the US. The other thing mentioned was actual cancelled checks from our joint checking account, which we don't even have checks issued since it is just used for the debit cards. We will figure it out though and make this happen.

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices/minnesota-minneapolis-st-paul-field-office

It says, the MSP field office is  serving  the states of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. This office also serves the following counties in western Wisconsin: Ashland, Adams, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Iron, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lincoln, Madeline Island, Marathon, Monroe, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Portage, Price, Rusk, Saint Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempeleau, Vernon, Vilas, Washburn, and Wood.

this may be one of the reasons causing the slow. Not much immigrates are over south/north Dakota.  In my mind, each state would have at least one office. Many other states, they usually have 2-3 field offices in one state, especially those lining over the coast lines. even Ohio has 3 field offices.  NOT FAIR AT ALL.

My wifes PD was August 22. 2016, she was scheduled for the interview on August 31 2017.

that sucks really!

one guy  in this forum got his interview notice within 30 days after e-filing N400. He is a Canadian and he said the open shared channel between Canada and US may help the background check processed SUPER fast. So basically he will receive the certificate in 60 days. So Jealous !

Wow, that is real fast.  We have a few different friends in other states who got interviews within 4 to 5 months, they were also from Iran, so that certainly was not the issue in our case.  We just have to prove we have a valid marriage, I included everything I had (the same as for the removal of conditions) in the application.  We are struggling to come up with a lot to send back to them so they can make a decision.  In the worst case, we wait another year and file under the 5 year rule. but that would suck for my wife, as she is a Flight Attendant, he work is restricted to US and Canada right now because of her passport.

NY state has 6 field offices as it has the most immigration population crossing  this country. this guy i just mentioned is processing through NYC field office.

average 6  months is acceptable. i also wonder if FBI is just conducting 5 years or 3 year history investigation since  greencard approval as you stay in the U.S. most of the time, They already checked the background for the years before greencard approval, which covers majority of history in your home country.

There is no point if FBI check your whole life history again this time. I just guess.

if some people has lots of international travel back to home country for whatever reason, will this cause the background check delayed ? i dont know neither.
