The security check gets transmitted through the computer and US agencies process it in the US. Your file doesn't get sent back to the US for a security check. I can tell you that certain agencies involved in the security check are severely backlogged right now due to understaffing, a new computer database and process that takes them many more hours to process just one check, and an overwhelming number of checks to do altogether. If you have a common name or if there's someone on the books with a similar-enough name to yours, the check will take a lot longer to do because it takes longer to determine whether you are that person or not. This is especially marked in Middle Eastern countries where you have millions of people named Mohamed Mohamed and it's nearly impossible to clear that check in those cases...hence it taking a year or more for them.

K-3 is as rare as hen's teeth now. They almost always get administratively closed because I-130s are being processed faster now than they were.

The Netherlands is looking more and more attractive...

We also apply for my husband in the UK and it only took 5 weeks and we got the visa, shame he doesn't like uk. Will like to leave in Europe, grow up in Netherlands, but leave in uk now. What a waste of money

Sorry to hear he doesn't like the UK. The visa for a spouse for the UK is very expensive, isn't it? My brother brought his wife into the UK and I was surprised at the costs.

It was, all in all we paid $2000, and is only for 2 years. Even the price is up again, after u need to apply for another 2 years again. Am going to try the USA for 1 year if I don't also like it we will move back to UK or back to Amsterdam

This is the greatest lesson a child can learn. It is the greatest lesson anyone can learn. It has been the greatest lesson I have learned: if you persevere, stick w/it, work @ it, you have a real opportunity to achieve something. Sure, there will be storms along the way. And you might not reach your goal right away. But if you do your best and keep a true compass, you'll get there. Edward M. Kennedy,

Hey guys,

Just an update, my cr1 visa was issued last month May 12, sorry I haven't been able to update, extremely busy. 3 1/2 weeks in AP, but now it's all over, thank god.

Good luck to all of you in your journey, thank you for your support. :)

That's great to hear... Well, it would have been better without 3.5 weeks AP but better than months and months and the outcome is perfect - visa approved. Congratulations. CR-1 is a tough route and I take my hat off to anyone who gets through it in one piece. Edited by JFH
