Thanks - a question about delivery of visa to address on DS-260. The address we put is far from a metro area. If she tracks the delivery through 2go can she pick it up in Cebu City instead of waiting a week for it to reach the province address? Can the delivery address be changed to an address in Cebu City at this point instead? That would be even better. We didn't realize the DS-260 address would be used for delivery when we filled up the DS-260.

Yes you can change the delivery address. Here is a link on how to do that it is at the bottom of the page. there are 2 options doing it online or by calling. I myself think calling might be the best way. you have up till 11:59 pm day of interview to change address.

Or a better tool to use is for the myUSCIS web app and get all your updates, change your address and inquiry about a case all from one dashboard. Why go to so many different address's to do the same thing. Use the links in my signature box below. There is a better way -- just have to be willing to try.

Did you register first? After registering then enter in your receipt numbers and you will know the status of pass and future forms that you submit. Also, you can select the block for delivery address changes and update your file.

It won't work unless you register first as it needs to match you to your "master" record.

I found the page, and tried to enter our receipt # MNLxxxxxxxxxx but got the error:

"Error: The application receipt number entered is invalid. Please check your receipt number and try again."

Any idea how to resolve this?

You can find your receipt numbers on your NOA documents. Add them all and get updates. Also, the phone app is something that everyone is cheering about as it is constantly looking for updates to your cases.

Look down on the bottom of the page and you will see the link to change your address.

These are two hand tools to have. I wish you luck.

during the interview, in the entrance USEM personnel giving a 2go form that your wife will fill up where a place she want to pick or deliver her visa packet, after her interview she need to submit it in 2go window near in releasing window. good luck

It's been said that they are not using a releasing window any longer for those who passed and have no issues. They hand them a slip of paper with a web address to verify their delivery address.

Well I am not a tax expert or attorney, just an ordinary USC. Possibly Saylin is or at least has researched the issue far more extensively that I ever had the desire to. At least it seems that way. And it's not my intention to get into a P***'ng war with anyone. Maybe the major issue here has to do with event dates.

FWIW here's my timeline. Married May 2014. I sent my TR for CY 2013 with the I130, Filing single. Process trudged along and my wife's interview was scheduled in May 2015. Prior to the interview I sent her the 2014 TR still filing as single. And fwiw co did not ask for it. Before filing the 2014 TR I did basic research because it was my intent to maximize refund or minimize liability by claiming both wife and step-daughter on the return (3 vs.1 exemptions). What I read is that there is a residency requirement that also goes along with the marital status. Since neither were residing in the US for the prescribed amount of time (>6 mths???) I couldn't list either.

If you're hooked up with a tax attorney and he's working pro-bono, I certainly would like to hear his view. I would be very specific when talking to him about specific event dates AND place of physical residence along the way and report back.

Keep in mind that the requirement of providing tax returns and W-2's is just to satisfy the AOS filing, ie do you make enough money to support your immigrating family. They (the NVC) are really looking at the gross earnings.

Once again this was specific to MY case and may not apply across the board. So take it at face value. And let us know what the 'expert' says. Maybe I am wrong and Saylin is correct. If that is in fact the case maybe I too will refile using the NRA SSAN as a filler.

Filed 2013 married separate with NRA. Went thru the process of getting her ITIN and amended the 2013 taxes to married jointly and filed 2014 married jointly using that transcript for the AOS. Letter is sent with the ITIN request and 1040 requesting the NRA be treated as a resident for tax purposes.

That's the funny thing about this process. All of a sudden, they change something and the only way, and thank God for VJ, we learn of this here. Someone who had just gone through the visa interview stated this, and that is how we learned of it. But, that's how we learn of all the changes that take place, through the members here on VJ who are sharing with others.

With a CR-1 visa, when the applicant reaches the U.S. can he/she get an SSN? Or just an ITIN? When can they get an SSN? Thanks.
