Hi I was just going through this topic and found that most people on here have already gone through the whole NVC process. I am just starting and have a few questions.

So my husband and I have been filling the I-864 form and we have a few questions regarding the form.

1) In Part 2, Item 2.a., they are asking for the mailing address of the immigrant. Now my address doesn't fit in the space they have provided(people living in India will understand). What do I do? Just put in the smaller version of the address? Or write however much fits into it electronically and then just write the few letters that don't fit using a pen?

2) In Part 4, CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY, we have checked the box for "I am a citizen" because my husband is a citizen. Now below the box "I am a lawful permanent citizen", you need to fill out the Alien Registration Number. My question is, does my husband have to put his alien registration number in there too, (because he used to have one when he was there on a green card) even though he is a citizen now?

3) In Part 5, HOUSEHOLD SIZE. I am the only person my husband is sponsoring so he put 1 in the box #1. He put 1 in box #2 too, for himself. Now the box #3 asks "if you are married, enter 1 for your spouse." So I am wondering, do we have to put 1 in there too? Because I am anyways the principle immigrant and am included in the box #1. Right now we just put 0 in there because they say we should not be counting anyone twice. So, our household size is 2. Am I right about this?

4) In Part 6, Item 5: Current Individual Annual Income. The thing is, my husband got a raise in February or March, so his annual income this year would be more than last year. Whereas, his most recent tax transcripts will obviously show the annual income according to his previous salary. Would this create any problems?

Also, my husband got his employment letter from his HR person and on the letter they have mentioned his annual salary, which does not include any of the bonuses he receives every year. So would the number indicated on the letter be his "Current Individual Annual Income"? Or the one mentioned in his W-2's which are obviously for 2014. We are seriously confused about this current annual income thing.

5) In Part 6, Item 13: They say we are supposed to check the box if my husband(the sponsor) has filed the tax returns for each of the three most recent tax years and if he has attached the photocopy of the tax transcript of only the most recent tax year. Now Item 14 says we are supposed to check the box if he has attached photocopies of the tax transcripts for second and third most recent tax year. We are attaching the photocopies of the last three tax years, so, which box do we check? Item 13? Item 14? Or Both?

6) Okay this will be the last question, just double checking. We are supposed to put in N/A or NONE in all the fields that are not applicable to us and allow actually typing those things in, right? What about the fields that do not allow N/A or NONE to be typed in? Example: Immigrant's Alien Number(I don't have one yet.) or since what date my husband(the sponsor) is unemployed(he is not unemployed). Do we just write it down using a pen when we print it out? Or do we just put N/A or NONE in all the places it allows us to and leave other things blank?

Thank you so much in advance. I am just concerned and we do not want to get any stupid checklists that will keep me and my husband further apart! Just trying to be really precise here, and would really appreciate any help we can get.

Thank you again.

Hi Fishonchuck,

The way to get to speak to somebody is to keep hanging up & redialing over & over again for as long as it takes ( 1 hour of doing this was the most it ever took for me) until u hear a ring & not the recording...that is when u know u r going to get through. Yesterday when I called it took me 15 minutes to get a ring & then I was on hold for another 40 minutes before getting to actually speak to somebody. So, you just need to do it when you have a lot of time on your hands ?

~Tanya

Thank you everybody. I got through at 9pm central time finally. No good news, just said my application was in the system. No way to talk to a supervisor, transferred me back to the message and disconnected me. Wow, our tax dollars at work.

thanks again

Don't fret. It's coming. When I called last Friday and this Monday, there was no record and they were telling me to wait 35 days. Called on Tuesday, it was there and I got my case number. Try again tomorrow or Monday and I bet you'll have it. You're almost there!

Funny how a governmental agency can have technical issues for weeks on end. Their IT people must be really sub-par. I don't think the IRS has any technical issues when it's trying to collect money from thousands of people.

Hi, suggestion.. you might be better off posting a specific question in the main NVC forum with higher viewership, and likely responses.

OP, I also spoke to NVC yesterday to get an update about our supervisor review and was told the same about the backlog of DS-260. Apparently, while people were having problems accessing the CEAC website to pay and complete DS-260, NVC were having the same issue with accessing DS-260.

I submitted my DS-260 around April 25th and it still hasn't been reviewed, even got a checklist for "not submitting it". The woman on the phone said that NVC are extremely backlogged because of the previous technology issues. She didn't say anything about cases being sent straight to the embassy though. In fact, she told me the direct opposite because I asked if I couldn't just book an interview since NVC have all the information from us but was told no, an interview cannot be booked until NVC gives a case complete.

Guess we'll just have to hang in there and hope we get cc soon. It's soooo frustrating though. :(

Just goes to show how ill-trained these folks on the MIS-information line are.

From what I understand, the issue is more than just IT.. it's IT too, but (probably) also the recent hacking, national security issues, along with embassy backlogs. Therefore, the understanding is that NVC is slowing things down "on purpose" to allow agencies\embs breathing room to catch up. Just my $.02!

Hello there

let me tell you something, my interview is on August 17/2015 and my case was completed last month.

My interview will be in Saudi arabia and i am pretty sure that they didnt review my DS260.

Because i studied 2 years in australia and i have mentioned that in my DS260, but my case was completed without asking me to send them the police clearance from federal police in australia.

Imagining studying there for 2 years and they didnt ask for this basic thing.

So i am pretty sure that they didnt look at it at all, and leaving it the one who will interview me.

So relax and dont over think it.

I sense that NVC is currently overwhelmed.. if they didn’t\couldn’t glean the DS260, they wouldn’t know you lived in Australia.

Did you send any other police certificates.. from Jordan\ksa etc?

Hi I was just going through this topic and found that most people on here have already gone through the whole NVC process. I am just starting and have a few questions.

So my husband and I have been filling the I-864 form and we have a few questions regarding the form.

1) In Part 2, Item 2.a., they are asking for the mailing address of the immigrant. Now my address doesn't fit in the space they have provided(people living in India will understand). What do I do? Just put in the smaller version of the address? Or write however much fits into it electronically and then just write the few letters that don't fit using a pen? Make short address because it doesn't matter they will not send any mail to that address anyway.

2) In Part 4, CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY, we have checked the box for "I am a citizen" because my husband is a citizen. Now below the box "I am a lawful permanent citizen", you need to fill out the Alien Registration Number. My question is, does my husband have to put his alien registration number in there too, (because he used to have one when he was there on a green card) even though he is a citizen now? you only use citizen box since he is citizen not permanent resident

Am I right about this? if you read carefully it says person not sponsored in this affidavit before 'if you are married enter 1' so Part 5 item 1- 1, item 2- 1(already there) AND item 8- total 2 household members.(make sure he is the only one on tax returns no other family members)

'

It doesn't matter because as long as he match poverty guideline, refer to I864P to match income. family of 2 $19912

Item 13? Item 14? Or Both?

you select it because it is asking of you file taxes or not so item 13 check it. 14 check it also.

Don't write N/A or none just leave it blank if answer is not applicable.

Thank you so much in advance. I am just concerned and we do not want to get any stupid checklists that will keep me and my husband further apart! Just trying to be really precise here, and would really appreciate any help we can get.

Thank you again.

Most people get checklist for small matters like forget to sign or income not sufficient. I864P explain all about income so refer to it. good luck
