it will be difficult for her to pass the medical, because as you state, once she is "out in society" she does not take her meds and thus becomes a danger to herself or others. The question is going to be, who will pay for her healthcare once she arrives and who will make sure she takes her medication since she has been institutionalized for at least the last 10 years. Being schizophrenic and having a history of not taking meds, she will most likely be deemed a danger. The US government will also need some sort of guarantee she will not become a public charge by going on tax payer funded state or federal heath care, even if she does pass the medical.

one of her brother earns $12,000 a month. And one of her other brother runs a cellular company. Both own personal houses. Considered well to do by American standards. I am not sure if they can afford her medical expense or not. But that is their financial status over there. And they do not believe in earning money where their body sweat is not involved. That is our house rule. Better to sleep on streets but no freeloading.

You would be gobsmacked to see how much medical costs are here. A lady I know was a RN in California and was earning more than your Brother.

I have never lived over there of course how the hell I know? Although I have visited countries like Singapore and UAE. It is not like only medical is expensive over there , everything is 3 times more expensive than back home. So I expect the same for any developed country. So I know where you are coming from. Why do you think my brothers opted for this route? For the next 8 years, she will not be a burn on their shoulders or a trouble maker to others. Worse case scenario, she has been living here for the last 12 years and only lived for 4 years In the US. So she would still be living here in Pakistan but one thing is for sure she would not be munching on tax payers money if she made it beyond her medical test and eligible to travel to the USA. She could always go back to her motherland, that one option is always there.

For most of my life I have not lived in the US but as a matter of general knowledge knew that the US 'system' is horribly screwed up and expensive.

Obviously I have little knowledge of the Pakistani media, but the UK media did cover this issue, and usually a horror story would come up every now and then for the tabloids to feast upon.

I guess if i was in your shoes the first thing I would think of is if we can get her in what are the consequences, can we afford it, what facilities are available and what will it cost.

But that's me.
