Packet 3 is driving me crazy

Hey guys!

I feel so stupid, and I don't know if I'm alone in saying this but Packet 3 is literally driving me crazy because I find the Montreal checklist is kinda confusing.

Now my big question is: is all I'm sending in the mail right now the signed checklist and none of the supporting documents?

I'm so overwhelmed by this whole thing I need somebody to dumb it down for me lol

The instructions for packet 3 state that you need to send by email the checklist, scanned bio page of your passport and the confirmation page with barcod from the DS-160.

This is what we just sent... So if this is incorrect I hope someone will shed some light as well .. :/ but I read the packet 3 instructions like 20 times. Nowhere did it state that we need to send all the documents listed in the checklist; just that we have gathered all documents to bring to the interview.

We had the Vancouver version (I'm guessing they are quite similar). My fiance emailed the checklist back to them and they sent out packet 4. They appear to only want to see the documents in person.

That's what I'm thinking, but just wanted to be sure. If that's the case then I'm ready to print out and mail and get this process going.

and since you received your packet 4 already, is that when you're able to book your interview?

I think given what other people are telling me, you're right.

But for the scanned checklist that you email, is that a checked and signed copy or just an empty one?

Hi there!

I remember these google drive documents someone made REALLY helped me in assembling my Packet 3. I'm not sure if it's updated to today's standards (so still do your due diligence) but it worked for me when I filled mine out in September 2013.

Hope it helps you too :)

*** Country-specific thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Canada regional subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I don't think they'll help since everything is electronic forms. :(

OP - no you do NOT send any documents to the consulate. Just the filled out and signed form, the photocopy of the bio data page, and the confirmation of the DS-160. That's it.

You don't check anything, just sign it by the way.. the lines are more like bullets.

Oh okay, so am I putting my signed initials beside the document title then rather than a check mark. Also, am I just leaving what documents don't apply to me blank then?

No just fill out the bottom

don't worry about the actual checklist.

Oh wow, all electronic? That's a huge change! Probably a good thing since most people never actually received Packet 3 from Montreal (myself included).

Oh wow. Dumb moment. Thanks!! Haha

Also, in that case am I scanning the signed checklist and sending it by email as well? Or am I just forwarding a blank checklist?
