I use "whack" all the time!

I never say or hear Chesterfield. And I don't know anyone who says "aboot". But maybe I just don't notice it because I say it....?

How about "you're welcome" versus "uh huh" :)

How about BBQ in Canada and cookout in the US.

Oh yeah and my SO searched high and low to bring me Smarties from the US so I would know you could get them there, and I opened pack of them and ate one and said these are like sweet tarts here, NOT smarties. I will definately be taking some with me, ha ha

ZED!!!!!

I am having trouble saying ZEE... and when I say ZED sometimes Karen gets confused

Yousuf learned English, British style (in which he is fluent), and it always bugs me when he says ZED. I'm like what the world is a ZED?? He says the letter! I'm like ummmmm, there is no such letter!:lol:

I'm a traitor when it comes to Smarties. After not having them for a few years and eating M & M's during that time, once I did get my hands on the Smarties again, in my opinion the M & M's are better.

My mother in law says chesterfield.

My husband and I got into a HUGE debate over which term was correct ..........BBQ or Grill..............we both won depending which side of Lake Huron we're on.

Smarties didnt impress me much ......the shell is too hard.

Chocolate bar instead of candybar.....................holiday not vacation.

Yeah! Holiday and vacation are good ones! I get teased about that alot.

- Canucks say grade x down here it's xth grade

- I had to explain senior public school vs. junior high, secondary school vs high school, a collegiate and that an 'alternative' school isn't for delinquents

One thing I haven't been able to find is eggroll sauce, the kind you'd get in a little ketchup type package. Is it called something else here?

I sent hubby some Canadian Smarties in a care package, they had little maple leafs on them. He had no idea what they were even though he said he loved Smarties (those rockets things)

Someone please send me some smarties! I can get Tim's coffee easily enough, but smarties are impossible.

I have also only found one place that sells Skor bars, a small gas station in Millidgeville, GA.

sweet tea=non existant in canada

buscuits & gravy=non existant in canada

never had a corn muffin b4 I came here...when the waitress asked if i wanted busicuts or corn muffins with my meal and i replied 'whts a cornmuffin?' she looked at me like i was from another planet!!

I also learned to order hot tea so I dont end up with iced tea...and learned to ask for creamers because when i asked for milk to go with it...they brought me a glass of milk! heh

all kinds of adjustments

first time my husband referred to a toque as a toboggan i thought he was a lunatic, im glad to hear others do it as well...must be a southern thing? his family is from WV, so there are a lot of expressions that he uses that are more south than typical ohio speak. I have learned to figure out the meanings, he has more trouble with my way of talking....dog f**cker still confuses a lot of people, when i say im going to 'rip a strip off' someone (tell them off) or that I turfed something (threw it in the garbage) . i 'zed' out the register at work and my boss and co-workers laff at me, and they love making me say hockey because they say pronounce it funny...im like WE invented it im sure WE know how to say it right...now they all say it like me HAWKey LOL
