Guys do you know when an affidavit of support gets entered into the system? I sent mine 2 weeks ago and I still don't get a message that the NVC received it when I check the automated response system. Should there be a message that they received it or only after it gets reviewed?

Also , could anyone tell me - did you need to translate the documents for your parents? Did you do the translation yourself or does the NVC want it to be a certified translation by somebody else?

Thank you.

I want to know too. I sent it last friday, usps tracking said it was delivered monday morning. Automated message changed yesterday from "...package sent to agent..." to "...NVC is waiting for the Biographical information from the petitioner..." But when I talked to an operator today he said its not yet on the computer. He also said that I would only get an e-mail about the AOS if an RFE is needed.

Hi Raj,

I am about to send all the documents for DS-230. I read from one of the posting here about sending a copy. Here is what it says:

"What you need to do is, you send one complete set of original documents with the Barcode coversheet of one parent and then for the other parent you have to attach to their Barcode Coversheet a photocopy of the original document and write on it "Original Held In Case # LND2009****** " You must do that for every document that is not the original."

Do I make a copy of each original and put this on the cover, Original Held In Case # LND2009******?

Thank you.

First Beneficiary:

For all originals you need to put a copy also and then write the case number on the top of all copies.

Second Beneficiary

For the other second beneficiary you will put all Copies and on top write the ORIGINAL was HELD ON CASE # (the above beneficiaries case # ) and this way they will know that you put Original on the other case (both related cases).

You will write Beneficiaries Case Number on all the pages (on copies...not on originals)

Hope this helps...Good Luck! Thanks, Raj

This is a good post. I hope I get more sample questions as my Mom will be a nervous wreck when her interview comes - as she has experienced in her prior failure to get a tourist visa. I have a few questions though:

1. Will a petition beneficiary (my mom) have a problem if she go denied a tourist visa so many times before? The last time she applied and got denied was in 2008.

2. My sister who immigrated here from the UK with her family (she was a nurse there) is petitioning her. I went here as a tourist but eventually married a US citizen. Will my mom's petition be in peril due because of the way I got here? I'm actually awaiting for my Oath, which was delayed due to fingerprint issue (I already passed the citizenship exam).

3. Will I have problems petitioning my married brothers. How long will it take for my brothers and their families to get here if my sister and I petition them?

Thanks for all the help. I wish my mom's petition process is as quick as Treyu's! Please update your list with my mom's details below.

I've been trying to scour for interview questions for parents at the embassy/consulate abroad. Raj, I could not find your post about the questions asked of your parents during their interview. Will really appreciate it if you post the questions right here as my mom is getting quite apprehensive about the questions she will be asked during the interview. So far, I found the following questions from previous posters regarding their parents' interview:

QUESTIONS :

1. IF petitioner has KIDS?

2. IF petitioner WAS THE NUMBER 1OR 2 OR 3 OR 4 CHILD IN THe FAMILY?

3. WHAT'S petitioner's JOB HERE IN THE STATES?

4. WHAT'S petitioner's HUSBAND'S JOB HERE IN THE STATES?

5. MY MOM'S PREVIOUS JOB BACK HOME BEFORE SHE RETIRED?

"Who's petitioning you?"

"How did your petitioner get to the U.S?"

"In what year was your petitioner born?"

"Does your petitioner work?"

"What does your petitioner's husband do?"

"How many children do you have?"

"Which one of your children live in the U.S?"

"Have you ever applied for a visa to the U.S?"

"Have you ever been in another country?"

<br style=""> "When was your petitioner born?"

"Does your petitioner work?"

"What does your petitioner's husband do?"

"How many children do you have?"

"Which one of your children live in the U.S?"

"Did you get married in 2006?"<br style=""> <br style=""> <br style="">What does your petitioner do for work?"

"How old was your petitioner when you and your wife married?"

1 - Had parent ever lived outside of England?

2 - Had parent ever been to America?

3 - When would parent be planning to travel to the US if she was approved?

He then started talking about how soon she would need her passport. <br style=""> <br style="">

<br style="">1 – How long had petitioner lived in the US?

2 – How did petitioner get to the US?

3 – How did petitioner meet her husband?

4 – Did petitioner like living in the US?<br style="">

How long have parents been married?

If petitioner was conceived after they got married?

How many children do they have and where do they live?

If they have ever stayed in US more than 6 months while they were using their turist visa?

Where does petitioner live and where does petitioner work? <br style=""><br style="">What is petitioner's husband's name and name of children and where they were born.

We would really appreciate more interview questions from recent interviewees. I will post my mom's questions as soon as she is done on the 13th of May.

Good luck to all our parents!

Hello,

I am wondering if anybody is having issues trying to pay the IV fee in the NVC website? I check the option to pay the $400 and then click on selected fees, and nothing happens. It doesn't give me the option to enter my payment information or anything, it shows the same page with the option selected to pay.

If somebody is having the same issues please let me know. I tried on Friday, Sunday and today and I just can't! :crying: It is driving me crazy!!!

TIA

hi. i got a basic question.. do i need to be there the day of the interview of my wife? or she can go alone? thanks in advance.

The presence of the USC petitioner is not mandatory but for a relatively tough consulate like DR, it is recommended. If you can make it, go for it!
