I'll be submitting my K1-Visa application soon. Just curious to know if there are any other couples out there who's beneficiary is from Iran and if they've encountered any problems with their process? Any tips or information you can give would be most appreciated! Thank you!

You could look in your countries portal and also post in the MENA forum.

I've seen then here time to time and although it should be judged on relationship, they do seem to get extra scrutiny as do other countries from the region - Pakistan, Afghanistan etc.

Hmm.. Thanks for the heads up. I spoke to a woman officer from the USCIS number and she told me we shouldn't have any problems even if he's from Iran, but any feed back is good. Thanks for responding!

We had a very smooth process.  Now we're waiting on my husband's 10-year greencard (Removal of Conditions), which we should receive in the next month or so.  He can also file for citizenship in a few months.  Feel free to hit me up whenever you have questions through the process.  I'm happy to pay it forward.

Thank you sooo much! We're trying to decide which US Embassy he'd be going through. The K1 visa application asked which embassy he'd be getting his visa through so my fiancé chose Armenia. Which one did you go through?

We went through Ankara, Turkey.  If you look at my timeline, I documented our experiences.  I went with him and when they found out I made the trip, they asked me back the next day to be interviewed.  He ended up getting approved on the spot with no administrative processing.  However, the political climate has changed a bit since then (Jan 2014), so I'm not sure if any Iranian -- especially a man -- is going to have the easy experience we did.

Hi @Tierra my fiancé (wife now) is from Iran. We went through the Abu Dhabi embassy. I also have a post about the process. We caught them in a transition where they were figuring out how often a new medical is needed so it took a bit longer than expected and because of that we ended up needing a new medical as the rules changed. Otherwise when she did her interview she got put into AP with no requirements from them (then we found out it was the rule change on medical validity) and after that everything was pretty smooth. We just started the ROC process to get her a 10 year green card and in about a year we can apply for her citizenship.

I have heard that both Armenia and Ankara have had really good turnaround times.

Thank you so much. So new medical huh? Did she have to get a new medical insurance or something? Just wondering lol I’m gonna have to let my fiancé know.

We are working with the Armenian Embassy. How long did you apply?

No she had to do her medical twice (see a local doctor and get vaccines and checkup done), so she had to pay for it twice which was $200 each. It was because they made the medical expire in 6 months instead of 2 years like it used to be (makes them more money if process takes longer).  We did the Abu Dhabi Embassy. We applied Sept 10 2013,  her interview and first medical were done by Feb 17 2014 and her visa was ready Oct 30 2014 pending second paid medical exam.
