Requesting my Tax Transcripts

I'm thinking a little ahead about some of the documents I'll need once my 129 is adjucated. I'm having some trouble requesting my tax transcripts. The IRS website won't let me request anything because for whatever reason they've decided my verizon mobile number is invalid and not associated with my SSN. They claim they'll send me a code by mail to the address on tax filing record, but the problem is that I don't live at that address anymore and I have moved several times since, so the mail forwarding won't work.

Is there a walk-in service I can use to request transcripts? Can someone at a local IRS office just print this out for me?

Are tax transcripts along with employer letter sufficient for the affadavit of support? My income is above poverty level.

Just like you do every time you move you should file form 8822 with the IRS and applicable states to notify them of the address change and then re request the Pin code and download the return.

Well, I have my last 10 years of tax returns saved as digital files. I was under impression I had to provide "tax transcripts" whatever that is and I'm not sure how different it is.

Can I just re-print my last 3 years of tax returns and include that instead?

You can always make an appointment at a local office and they'll print the transcript for you then and there. Take a look here for the nearest office to you:

https://www.irs.gov/uac/contact-my-local-office-in-california

Since you said you moved and the last address on record with IRS is not current, I'd suggest doing the appointment and getting it in person. At the same time, you can probably have them change your address in the computer.

You can print the actual tax return copies but you'd also have to include copies of the related tax forms, such as W-2, 1099, etc. The transcript is cleaner and (IMHO) carries more weight since it's more "official".

I second that using the transcripts are preferable. Having to stop in person to the office may not be ideal, but in my opinion it would be worth it as long as it's not an entirely unreasonable trek you would have to make to get there. Which, if you are in San Francisco I doubt would be an issue.

I had problems with the IRS also with there online system. I didn't need tax transcripts and only gave them the page that said how much money was earned from the 1040 and it worked fine for us.

We have visa in hand traveling next week, though I know your k1 and the process is different

Good luck
