Packet 4 and Two Appointments

Hello All,

So we jumped through all the hoops and after paying our fee and sending off our packet 3, we went to the website to make our interview appointment. All was good because we were able to get an appointment right away on a date that would fit our schedule. Sounds good.

Today we receive the Packet 4 and apparently they have changed how appointments are scheduled. At the top of the page in the email we were sent is an assigned appointment date (see attached). So now we have two appointments, the one we want on the 22nd, and the one they assigned on the 31st. Is anyone else seeing this? I looked at the forms that Chris posted and his email is very different from the one we received.

With all the problems people are having scheduling interview appointments, we now have the opposite problem, too many. No wonder folks can't get appointments and then cancellations pop up randomly.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

-Steve and Guiying

This is worrysome. seeing Michael & Daisy's topic I went to check the site. I went back to the Visa Type that is Appointment Scheduled by NVC and went through the whole process again. All our info was still populated automatically and the payment receipt still showing. So at least we do not need to repay the Visa fee.

I should have checked my email, turned out this morning I received an email as well and our appointment date is 8/31. Not bad. As we were hoping for 8/31-9/2.

I would place a call to the Embassy. Since they appear to be scheduling the K1 interviews, let them know that you scheduled your interview prior to the receipt of Packet 4, and want to know how to proceed.

I am also going to try to call when they open on Monday, I'm sure that will be fun.

I guess the worst that can happen is that Guiying goes to the interview on the 31st instead of the 22nd and we have to reschedule the hotel and our other arrangements :ranting:

I will be so glad when this is over with.

Update,

I have sent 2 emails, 1 to CGI Stanley and 1 to the consulate to inquire about the multiple dates. I am waiting to here back.

In the meantime, my Fiance' called the consulate and got the main desk. They looked up her case number on their computer and said she was scheduled for the 22nd, which is the date I had originally reserved. They told her she needed to call another number to get the email to confirm the appointment which she has not been able to get through on yet. So it looks like we are going to use the appointment I reserved after all.

I just called them as well, but I didn't get to talk to a person. However, I clicked the phone options to schedule appointments and the recordings specifically says "applicants who are assigned an appointment interview time by the NVC are requested to arrive at the date and time notified in the email" .... " applicants who have not been given an interview time will be contacted...then to schedule a time through CGI Stanley"

The messages are clear on what to do so I just went ahead and went back to CGI Stanley to cancel the appointment that I made, kept clicking "back" to the visa options and selected "Immigrant Visa-Scheduled by NVC-Registration Only".

Ended with the same confirmation as chancy

Hi Steve,

Ours got messed up too. After Packet 3 was received and her response sent back on August 1st, she made an appointment for Aug 11. It was going to be tight as due to an upcoming trip she needed her passport back and August 11 was the last comfortable date to do the interview and still be able to get her passport back in time for her upcoming trip. However, even though many other people were showing 4-6 days between completed Packet 3 received back by the embassy and Packet 4 email being sent out, ours took 15 days! So by the day of her appointment, August 11, we still had not received the Packet 4 email ! Very frustrating. So she had to cancel that appointment. We finally received Packet 4 several days later, on Aug 15. Now, with her upcoming travels, she can't interview until September 29! It would cost a lot of money to change her travel plans, so we will take a ~41 day delay getting her K visa. I'll never know why everyone else was P3 to P4 in ~4-6 days and ours took 15; just bad luck I guess.

Wow Neal, that really sucks, 41 days ouch. It is so hard to plan around this process and I know we all want this to be done asap. I am about ready to go nuts trying to get through these last few hurdles.

The good news for Guiying and I is that she was able to talk to some very helpful people at the consulate, and they gave us a choice of the two appointment days. We chose the 22nd and we are locked in. Her hotel is booked and she is getting her train ticket as I write this. But what a hassle. It seems like they need to stick to one process.

Good luck to everyone,

-Steve and Guiying
