Questions regarding NVC steps for my wife's Immigrant Visa

As of right now, I am in the stages of completing the 6 steps for the NVC to get my wife her visa. I've completed most all of the Immigrant Visa application, but there are a few points I have questions on. Please see attached photos and questions below.

The above is a bit confuing. When we first were married here in the U.S., she was issued a temporary permanent resident card with a Category CR6. I do not see that listed as a selection for the Visa classification drop down menu.

We left the U.S. to live in Japan before her temp residence card expired. She did at one point travel to the U.S. and was held by immigration. She basically told them she wasn't aware that we needed to notify the U.S. government and everything was ok.

S, did my wife actually get a Visa when we were first married in 2001? What should I do here?

The last two questions I have no problem answering.

This screen grab is just for one child, but the questions pertains to my 3 boys. My oldest was born here in the U.S. so he has a U.S. birth certificate. My two youngest were born in japan, but have Consular Reportss of Birth Abroad. All three have U.S. passports and Social Security Cards. So, in the second and third questions, do I select No as they are already U.S. citizens and not immigrating but will be moving to the U.S?

Any and all help will be appreciated. i just want to get this all complete as my wife and I have been apart for a year and a half now and I want her and my boys with me as soon as possible.

Sorry you haven't gotten any answers yet, I guess it's a bit more unusual questions than most of us go through.

I don't really have any experience of this but since you haven't gotten any replies for two days, I can tell you what I think and maybe that's the same as how you see it, which might help you decide what to do?!

If your wife was given a CR6, it means she adjusted status in the US after your marriage, right? How did your wife initially enter the US, was it with a visa or under the VWP? I think that if she entered under the VWP, you got married and adjusted status, then no, your wife was not issued a visa. To me, the CR6 is a green card category, not a visa, but this is just me thinking out loud and not based on experience or knowledge.

If you should answer wrong on the DS-260, it's not the end of the world as you can still discuss it and correct it at the time of your interview.

The question about your kids, I'd so no because your children are USCs and are not immigrating to the US, they're returning home.

Yes, she entered on a regular tourist visa, on the recommendation of an immigration lawyer, and we applied for adjustment of status. What you said about it makes sense. Thank you.

I do have one more question.

At the sign and submit portion of the application is asks, "Did anyone assist you in filling out this application?":

If Yes is clicked, it asks for the preparer's information. Since I am doing this for my wife, I need to fill this out, correct? Where it says, "Relationship to you," do I put husband or petitioner?

One other thing. Because my wife did live in the U.S. from 2001 - 2004, she'll need a police certificate from the U.S. as well, right? How do I go about collecting one? Do I need to contact the local P.D. of the city we lived?

Husband or Spouse is acceptable. However, the purpose of this question pertains to professional assistance (i.e. lawyer or other 3rd party) so you can tick no and not have any issues.

I think if you just read that statement to her over the phone, then you can just fill out the information and submit it. You don't sign that part by name, just by application number, so I'm sure it's fine that you submit it.

Ok...so just thought of something. Do I submit the Affidavit of Support to the NVC with the rest of the packet or do I send it to my wife to take to the interview or do I send it to the NVC before I send the rest of the supporting/financial documents? It doesn't really say specifically that I can see.

The Affidavit of Support along with the supporting documentation goes to the NVC.
