Hello VJers,

I applied for ROC in January 2015 and was just transferred from Vermont to California. Unfortunately the other day I recieved an RFE. Bummer this is the first RFE during my K-1 process. The RFE states the following:

Good Faith Marriage

You have not established that the marriage upon which you were granted conditional status was entered into in good faith. You provided some evidence of marital bona fides. However, the documentation submitted is insufficient because of the following reason:

*more evidence of commingling of financial assets and a common place of residence are needed to establish a good faith marriage.

*the bank statements submitted do not reflect transaction page(s).

Here is what I originally sent.

  • Photocopy of 2012 and 2013 federal tax transcript showing filing status as “Married Filing Jointly”.

  • Photocopies of the first and last pages of Residential Lease Agreement contract for apartment

  • Photocopy of Lease Renewal for apartment

  • Photocopy of Property Insurance Annual Renewal Notice for apartment

  • Photocopy of Auto Insurance Annual Renewal Notice

  • Photocopies of utility bills showing joint residence

  • Photocopies of First National Bank statements showing a joint savings/checking account

  • Photocopy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Enrollment Application for joint health insurance

  • Photocopy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance card

  • Photocopies Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Explanation of Benefits

  • Photocopy of Delta Dental Enrollment Application showing a joint insurance policy

  • Photocopy of Delta Dental Eligibility &Benfits Summary

  • Photocopy of Group Life Insurance Enrollment Application

  • Photocopy of our airline reservations for a vacation in July of 2014

Any help would be great, I thought that I sent a pretty sound package.

It WAS a pretty sound package, but it seems like maybe you just send the first page of the bank statements showing balances, but not the pages showing the transactions. From what I can tell, they like to see the WHOLE bank statement, the WHOLE credit card statement, the WHOLE insurance packages, etc.

I would add wills, living wills and medical power of attorney (which any couple should have...), copies of your driver's licenses showing a common address, copies of the fact that you are the emergency contacts for each of your places of business/school, etc, and, if both your names are on the title of your automobile, a copy of the title.

Good luck to you both!

I did just send the first page of the bank statements. I guess I should send the entire thing as well as adding credit card statements?
