2015 K1 Visa forms? What do I need?

Hi guys,

I went on different sites and it looks like some places say that I need to send BACK my P3 and have one copy of some DS-230 part one and 2 copies of some DS-156 and Ds-156K... and other forms and pictures and checklists..

Then I saw P3 on the montreal us consulate site which only said something about DS-160 and that was about it. I am so confused as to which documents I need to finish, which ones I need to send back etc. I know I should "wait" for P3 but some sites say to ask the consulate if they have sent P3, which means I have the go ahead to complete P3 and send it back.

Some places say I can send P3 back via e-mail and some say I have to use loomis or xpresspost.

Does anyone know what I need to do, or which site I should use as reference?

Thanks in advance

for my country`s embassy we also need the DS-230 part 1,

and the DS-160

I suggest you prepare everything but wait for p3, in case they ask for something you hadn`t included yet. Better safe than sorry.

If your embassy wants you to send the DS-230 as well and you don`t send it in I can see it being a hassle to get it straightened out.

Good luck!

You use this: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

It's DS-160, Copy of the check list, and Color copy of your Biographics page.

Once you have confirmed that MTL has your file and IT HAS BEEN LOGGED, you can email back the above. After you email it, you should get packet 4 within 24 hours up to 3 days. We got out packet 4 email and the Okay to schedule medical and interview in about 7 hours after sending packet 3.

We've had plenty of people assume that because it says READY on CEAC that it's actually ready, but it gets marked as READY when MTL recieves it initially, it will stay as READY even when it's logged but a lot of people have been sending in their packet 3's without confirming that it was logged and then wondering why people are getting e-mails back within hours and they haven't seen anything in a week or so.

Example: MTL recieved our case on July 7th, but didn't log our file into the system until July 16th. E-mails we sent between July 7th and July 16th for packet 3 were simply ignored because the case wasn't logged into their system yet.

MTL does nothing via paper anymore other than send hard copy Packet 3's, if you're lucky enough to get on. Everything else is done via email, including questions and concerns, which can be found here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

I just did this about 2 weeks ago, and everyone else that's done it recently for MTL is doing the same thing, but all the loomis stuff and things like that for packet 3, that's all old info for sure.

Thank you so so much, that is really helpful.

How long away is your interview? (I ask out of curiosity to see what possible time line I am looking at to get married to my fiance- so eager to marry him!!)

Some old forums showed that it could take more than 4 months to get the interview.

Oh lord no, it's rough for Vancouver but not for Montreal. When my fiance scheduled his on July 24th all of September was open including as early as the 1st, so as long as it stays like that you're looking at say October or if you're really lucky the end of Sept. Rule of thumb, just expect the date to be a couple of months from when ever you schedule it, or at least a month and a half.

His medical is August 18th and his visa interview is Sept 22. We're planning on getting married at the end of November, but obviously no hard set plans until he has his visa in hand! =]

The system is wonky sometimes where it doesn't show the dates, you may have to refresh it a bunch, but I'd say plan for the interview sometime in October based on current time lines.

words cannot describe how incredible this is to hear. Its been a really rough ride for me and my fiance and I have been waiting for nearly 3 years for this process because of retrieving documents (birth certificates, proof of citizenships, passports etc etc). I am so happy to finally hear some good news! I hope my interview will be as soon as october. I'd love to go before my birthday but as long as its before christmas - i'll be happy.
