I have a questions reguarding the medical in Bangkok for a K1 and K2 visa.

1. Do you have to wait till you have case number before you can do your medical in Bangkok?

2. Do you have to schedule the medical or is walk in available? If you have to schedule does anybody know the current wait time?

Thanks....

No. It can be done in the six months prior to the interview but the closer the better.

Walk in is ok. It takes a few hours to do and the person will leave with the results in hand.

*** Thread moved from Asia South to Thailand regional subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks Ning. Will have my fiancé and her son do in a few weeks then. One more quick question. We are plan on sending everything (copies) except what is required to have my or her's original signature in with Packet 3 along with updated letters of intent with original signatures and she will bring the other originals documents along with their medical for the interview. Will this help speed up the process for Packet 4 and interview? I know like most she will be nervous the day of the interview and I'm trying to make the process less stress and easy for her. Thanks for all the help...

Anything you don't include with the P 3 docs can be hand carried in but I would send a note indicating that so they don't think anything was forgotten.

For the boy she will need a court order or letter signed by the father allowing the child to emigrate. Has this been done? The embassy issues a sample letter if you want.

You should inform your fiancée there is no need to stress about all of this if she understands what will happen. These cases are decided mostly based on the docs being done correctly. These docs are reviewed prior to the interview and if anything is missing or wrong they will not set the interview. The interview is pretty easy for her really unless they suspect fraud ect. There is no reason to fear this.

Nothing will speed up the process as long as you have submitted everything as required. Keep in mind the embassy sees about 700 cases per month which is why it seems to take so long to get the interview date. They only work on I V cases two days per week and use the other days for different types of visas such as student visas.

Ok thanks NIng. She already has a Certificate on child maintenance and it has been stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that states that she has sole parental power of him and may leave the country to go abroad. She had to get this when she moved to Singapore. Thats the same thing I told her about the interview but she likes to hear it from someone else from Thailand that has experinced it. Once again thank you so much for the help

Long,

Careful becuase the sole parental power letter is signed by the Amphur and the permission to travel abroad has to be signed by the biological father. The US embassy wants to see the letter signed by the father. In our case, we submitted the sole parental power letter from the Amphur and also the Father's permission to migrate in a permanent basis to the US. During my email correspodence with the embassy (prior to our interview), they asked us to bring a copy of the father's Thai family book and Thai ID, but they never asked us for them at the interview. If you have any questions, you can contact the embassy via email.

By the way, I recommend you get the child's shot records translated there (it is much easier and cheaper), you will need it when you try to register the child in school in the US.

Juan and Nan Thanks. I will have her get a letter from his father stating he has no problem with her son mirgrating to the US and a copy of his Thai ID along with his Thai family book. As far as his shot records they are all in english since he was living in Singapore with her for the past 5 years.

I suggest you take the child to your local county health clinic to have the shot record transcribed and g=have any additional shots required for U S schools done. We did this and found the 9 shots my daughter needed were free.
