Tourist Visa denied while K1 Visa pending

Hi everyone,

We attempted for a tourist visa for my fiance to visit while the K1 visa is pending. Well needless to say, he was denied with the reason that we applied for the K1 Visa, duh.

I don't think they knew we applied for the fiance visa, but their second question was to find out if we did and of course he said yes.

A little disappointed as we were hoping he would have face to face time with the kids. He has talked to them many many times through Skype, but has not met them in person yet.

Now we are praying for a faster processing time of our K1 Visa.

It's a little late now, but not being in a VWP country, it would have been best to get the tourist visa THEN apply for the K-1 after the tourist one was approved. I'm guessing that the expense is too much for a family visit the other direction, so all I can do is wish you the best of luck and a speedy process.

February 8, 2013 - NOA1 Notice Date May 12, 2014 - Biometrics Appointment Done September 27, 2016 - ROC Approved (Checked status via website w/receipt #)

February 11, 2013 - Bank shows check cashed today May 15, 2014 - Interview Schedule Letter (received May 17, 2014) October 6, 2016 - Card Arrived

February 11, 2013 - E-Mail Notification of Case Acceptance and June 5, 2014 - Interview Scheduled at Local office 8:15 a.m.

Case Number (Routed to California Service Center) June 11, 2014 - USCIS Status updated to show Greencard in the mail

February 12, 2013 - E Mail Notification of Alien Registration Number Change w/USPS tracking showing it scheduled to arrive

February 15, 2013 - Hard Copy NOA1 received June 14, 2014

June 5, 2013 - Email notice of RFE June 13, 2014 - GreenCard arrived

June 6, 2013 - RFE postmarked

June 10, 2013 - RFE arrived in the mail

Most likely would not have made a difference. My husband (boyfriend at the time) was denied a tourist visa twice - and that was before we had applied for K1 visa. He owned property - had a good job, no family in US, an invitation letter from the medical mission group that we both volunteered with and plenty of ties to his home country, but was still denied tourist visa - we were told it was because as an unmarried male he was considered an immigration risk. Later after our K1 interview at the consulate in Bucharest, we were talking with the CO and brought up the topic of the denied tourist visa and he said it wouldn't have mattered what proof he had, as long as he had a girlfriend in the US - he would have been denied. I made lots of trips to Romania and then we met up in Cancun, Mexico - because it was a short flight for me and no one needed a visa.

Hi..Me and my fiancee ha just thought about it now and i was just trying to read online about it till i found this post..really made me sad. We thought we finally thought on how to get rid of the waiting for awhile but sigh...guess has to wait till our K1 visa is approved. Thanks for your post. Wishing us goodluck!

It might be different for your country. Wouldn't hurt to try. I was only giving my experience with the embassy in Bucharest.
