Police Certificate & MOC Question

My fiance received his police certificate on Saturday. It does not show "No Trace" or "Live Trace". It details his history.

On it is a conviction for theft from employer from 1990. We understand from Nich-Nick's reply and subsequent link to the London Embassy that we need to obtain an MOC. My fiance contacted the local clerk's office to get these documents and was offered these two options:

1.) A copy of the MOC for 5 pound

2.) A signed copy for 60 pound

Would the unsigned copy suffice or do we need the singed copy?

He also has a police caution from 2008. Do we need any further documentation on that or is it only for convictions?

Also how do I make the pound symbol???

I would get a signed copy, I assume is is like a notarized copy? Submit a clean copy of that, unless your RFE called for an original.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Wait until somebody comes along that actually had a conviction and interview in London to know what worked for them. I don't have personal experience.

As for the caution i don't think you'll need anything else. I had a caution for theft from 2008 and the woman who interviewed me didn't ask to see anything regarding it. She just asked what happened and then said "oh well, these things happen"

Good luck :)

Are you sure that is the ACPO police certificates? or the CRB ones? The CRB shows in detailed. We made the mistake of getting the CRB ones and it delayed our process after the interview. We had to order the ACPO ones it showed the " no trace, no live trace or trace" that people on here are talking about.

Hi there, does the Police Certificate list the caution on there?

Yes for the conviction you will need an MOC and it should be notorised. It isnt necesarilly stamped with a embossed seal it is just authorised / signed by an official at the courthouse.

How old was your fiance when he comitted the theft offence, and what was the caution for if you dont mind me asking.

I just ask as i have just been approved with a number of criminal convictions but it does depend on your age when convicted and type of conviction.

I guess you have a US keyboard then lol. I wouldnt know where the £ sign is on there. You could use GBP after a number if you cant find the £ :-)

Across the top in big words it says:

ASSOCIATION OF CHIEF POLICE OFFICERS

POLICE CERTIFICATE FOR IMMIGRATION PURPOSES

I'm assuming that's the appropriate ACPO.

Okay, thanks. We had decided to go that route anyway. No sense spending all this time and money only to cheap out on something so vital. We'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

He was 23 on the theft offence. He is now 45. The police caution was for drug possession.

LOL! Yes, I do have a US keyboard. There is no GBP sign. I just figured it was some html thingy. :bonk:

I also meant to note that he was sentenced to 2 months imprisonment wholly suspended plus he had to pay a fine and make restitution. All of that is listed on the ACPO.

Does anyone here have any experience with this? I'm not asking for personal details to be aired in the public forum. Please privately message me if you have any insights or experience that may be helpful. I'm getting very worried now.

Hold down the Alt key and type 156 on the keypad.

I had an arrest from back when I was 12, my police certificate came back as "no live trace" and I had no idea of the date of an arrest from when I was a juvenile. I sent a letter to New Scotland Yard to get the date and they sent me the a letter containing the Date, Charge and the outcome. I used this letter at the UK interview in the US Embassy (I got nothing from the courts). I do however need the information from both the police and the courts now for my US citizenship and the price went up from £40 to £60 in the meantime! I would get as much info as you can and hold onto it for later.

Hope this helps.

Did you husband get the Police Certificate that specifies that it is for Immigration Purposes, or the standard ACRO Subject Access report?

If he went to court, then you should get the court records stating any charge and outcome. My interview was for a K1 visa so I am not certain what will be asked in his interview but you will certainly neeed it if he decides to apply for US citizenship later.

It is better to have too much information than too little.

If I am correct in thinking the Subject Access Report has now been replaced with the Police Certificate. Maybe you are thinkin of the CRB check. Criminal records check, used for employement purposes.
