Cover Letter Q!uestion

Just preparing for what happens after NOA2 and putting my ducks in a row.

I have all of the forms and order of steps we take after NOA2, but there is one point I am unclear on. We are hoping to have packet 3 all ready to go (including medical exam and police certificates) so when we find out London has received everything from NVC, that we can send them our completed packet 3.

I'm confused at the Cover Letter that DS2001 references. Is this something we must create? Is it available online? Or is it only available as a part of the official packet 3? Also, do we *have* to have the checklist?? I have been searching for info on this before posting, so forgive me if this is a duplicate question.

Thanks, gang.

There used to be a "checklist" that listed all the things needed at the embassy that you actually put checkmarks by and sent back as your sign of being ready to interview (because you had all the documents in hand). It also asked your travel date and wedding date. Fairly recently London went with that DS-2001 readiness document without things to check off. So if you see a reference to the checklist, just think of it as meaning your DS-2001 because you're not supposed to send that until you've "checked off" your list of what's needed for the interview.

The cover letter is something you create to tell them your email address, wedding date, (forgot what else they say to include) and actually anything else special you might need to convey to them I suppose. It's supposed to go in with the readiness form (aka checklist). If you have everything ready early, then you can send DS230, DS156, DS156K, DS157, DS2001 and the cover letter all in the same envelope.

Edit: Found the page

When you have obtained all of the required documents and are prepared for the visa interview, you are required to complete the Notification of Applicant(s) Readiness, Form 2001 and mail it to the Immigrant Visa Unit together with a covering letter containing your email address, if applicable, date of your wedding and date of the medical examination.
