Hi all,

I am traveling abroad in May and my passport still has my maiden name. My plane tickets have my married name on them, but passport doesn't match that. Will I be fine going through customs as long as I have my marriage certificate to show that everything matches up? I had no idea what to use on the tickets... HELP!

I-485 AOS Filing (shortened timeline):

08/25/06 - WEDDING DAY <3

09/14/06 - Medical

09/18/06 - Mailed AOS

10/04/06 - RFE request I-485

10/11/06 - RFE response rec'd by USCIS

10/12/06 - BIOMETRICS done!

Boarding pass must match passport, or you wont be able to board the plane, airport security tends to have problems when they dont match.

Your passport name should be the same in your ticket. Or you still have the time to ammend your passport,that way wit h your married name in your ticket. will match when your passport is ammended coz it will be in your married name by then

I have flown internationally several times, 4 times to be exact with my passport in my maiden name and the boarding pass with my married name. I carried my marriage certificate with me and had no problems with the airline or with custom. But you can call the airline to check if this will be an issue. Good luck

I had my name changed to my maiden name on the tickets. The airline said people travel in their married name all the time, who have passports that don't match, and that it would be fine.... but I didn't feel comfortable with that. So now my ticket matches my passport and I will have my marriage certificate with me just in case. The only way to change my passport would be to apply for an entirely new passport. Turns out you can't add a page to a Canadian passport with the name change anymore. Argh!

No problem. I always travel like that.. My tickets are with my married name and my passport is still with my maiden name..

You just need to carry your marriage certificate.. that's it

I am in the same position as you ~ passport still in maiden name ~ and I never thought about it! :mellow: My GC is in my married name and when I travel I just take my passport and GC with (and my driver's license for additional identification). My tickets are in my married name because my US credit card is in my married name. I don't travel with a copy of my marriage certificate although that does seem wise in hindsight. I have clocked quite a few domestic flights and in November came back from Jamaica without any incident.

Any time I've traveled domestically, I've used my married name and just used my Driver's License as ID. This time, I'm traveling to Ireland and so a license won't cut it. I changed my tickets so that my maiden name is on them. This way, it matches my passport. Hopefully, I won't have any issues. I'll be bringing my marriage certificate along just in case.

I hear you. Jamaica is considered international travel and like I said, I had no problem re-entering the USA ~ I stood in the US citizens' line with hubby and was told 'welcome back' and asked by the POE officer if we were playing "hookey" as we are both teachers & were traveling during the week :lol: . Don't sweat it & have a great time in Ireland. Will you be there for St. Paddy's Day? :goofy:

Nope! We're going in May :D But when I lived there, St. Patty's day was very quiet.. no one really celebrated anything! It was just another day. I was very disappointed!
