Local US CIS Office Review: Buffalo NY

Event Description
Review Date : March 19, 2020
Embassy Review : My husband (Italian) and I had our marriage-based adjustment of status interview on Monday. It was as good of an experience as I think you can have. We obviously don't have experience in other cities to compare, but all of the staff was very friendly. My husband's english is not great and we had requested an interpreter. Unfortunately, the interpreter did not show, but the officer let me translate as needed to him. I was surprised by this, but I think she honestly just wanted to see that we can communicate well to one another.

We had plenty of supporting documents, and I think this is what she was more concerned with. We had our 2019 filed taxes, joint health insurance, joint bank accounts, joint lease, and photo albums.

The questions asked were honestly more directed to me than my husband. She asked me more questions about our marriage, wedding, etc. Questions to him were more in regards to border entry and the questions that are asked on the I-485.

We got married Sept. 1, 2019, filed at the end of October 2019, had the biometrics at the end of January 2020, and approved at the appointment on March 16th 2020. She told us at the end of the interview that she was recommending approval. Buffalo is much faster than other cities, and the officer even said they process more quickly there. Overall very good experience. Good luck to you all!
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
