Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 30, 2015
Embassy Review : On June 16th I had my interview and since reading this blog on past interviews I felt completely prepared!!

I arrived at the consulate around 6:50am/7:00 and there was 2 people in front of me. The first girl was another reader of VJ and the young man also there was chatting with her about basically all the info we read on here. There was a few people that I'm guessing have not seen or heard of this blog because a few people had big back packs and purses as well as didn't realize there was a line. A few people actually tried to jump in front of the girl at the front by saying they didn't realize there was a line.

First a lady came out and asked to see passport, appointment letter and loomis confirmation. I think i actually got my number here already but regardless I got #3. Once we were let inside you go through airport like security, they take your phone and your sent down a set of stairs to a waiting area outside the elevator. The girl and guy that were in front of me were both sitting right next to the elevator which we were told to do here on VJ (Thanks all!!) and we sat here for a while. I have to say I am so thankful for those two I sat and chatted with basically the whole time because even though I really had nothing to worry about the absolute stress of my whole life coming down to this 20 min (if that) interview was beyond stressful!! So if the two people who sat with me (Both from Ottawa) are reading this, Shoutout to you two!! javascript:emoticon('')

The last that came outside then came to the elevator and sent us up to the 19th (i believe) floor. Once we were up there if you had a Immigrant Visa you sat down right away and were called one by one up to the first window. Here they went over my documents again - marriage certificate, taxes, affidavit of support, Birth Certificate and my photos. She showed me all the old photos I had sent in already and asked which ones I would want to use. After that I sat back down.

I waited about 15-20 minutes before being called to the second interview window. He asked me the following:
- Where did my husband and I meet?
- When did we get married?
- What does my husband do?
- Confirmed mailing addresses

Then said that was it and I was approved. He did tell me at that point that there was a computer issue with printing visas and that I shouldn't expect anything for at least 2 weeks. Today (June 29th) I finally received notice that my visa has been issued.

As long as you read other reviews on here you will be fine! Arrive early because it will just make life easier for you. Don't bother bringing a purse. I had everything like ID in my pocked and I had 3 folders with all my info. Medisys in Montreal actually gave me my result in a plastic bag so I brought that with me to cover my folders because it was raining that day.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
