Notes: Process went without problems but took a long time. Interview questions for me were mostly about her family, and for her about my ex wives! Interviewing officer was very cordial, They gave us a paper saying that the I-485 was niot yet approved and the process was being continued but then the green card arrived 10 days later.

We had our interview this past week, Jan 2, 2012 at the embassy in Lima and was not really what I expected at all. First we waited in line for no more than 15 minutes, then went through security and were directed through the inner courtyard to the main building. It was a long waiting room with comfortable padded benches and 14 windows into the interior of the office with thick glass and a small space underneath to slide papers. AFter 30 minutes or so of waiting, they called Macee's name to one window. One slightly snippy Peruvian senora asked for some of our papers and then we had to pay the fees at another window to a Peruvian man who said not one word, just took the cash and gave a receipt. Contrary to what the website says, you can pay in dollars, soles or credit card the day of the interview.
Then we sat for about 45 minutes waiting for the interview. There is a small office at the end which we presumed was the interview room. We could see the The previously not-so-nice senora sitting in that room and different people would go in and out of the office and we were very worried to talk to someone like that. Finally we were called to yet another window where an extremely nice and smiling American lady who spoke good spanish simply asked "where did you meet and how many times I had been to Peru" and then took the rest of our forms and then right when we were beginning to think this was another prelude to the actual interview, she said 'Your visas are approved". Unbelievable! After so much practicing for possible questions and scenarios, it simply was a couple questions at a window with thick glass where if you were not standing right next to the window, you could not even hear what the person was saying but I did hear the words "visas aprobodas" for sure!!
