Despite entry occurring after our two year wedding anniversary, the customs agent made my wife sign a form acknowledging conditional resident (CR) status because her visa packet was a CR1 (since that's when we had the interview). I told him it we had already celebrated our second anniversary, and his response was, "I have to follow the instructions in the packet," and, "They'll figure it out." Well, "they" didn't, and her green card came back as a conditional resident 2-year card instead of a 10-year card. Evidently, the same trained monkeys work everywhere within USCIS, not just behind a telephone. |
