There were people asking visitors if they are with visa or not, as we entered the immigration. I told them this is my first time entering the states with my IR-1 visa but they led me to the line for ESTA visitors. I waited for about 40 minutes before one of the clerk asked me what kind of visa I have. I told her about my situation, again, and she led me to another line for POE. She said that if i had told her about my visa sooner, I would have had been already through.
There was no one waiting beside me. The guy before me took so much time but all it took for me was like less than 10 minutes. All I was asked was my parents names. Then he took my finger prints and told me that my visa is valid for a year and stated my rights as an immigrant. He was very pleasant.
I wish they hadn't let me wait at the ESTA line for a while as I was with my child, who is going through his terrible two. He was fussing a lot because he was bored of waiting. That might have been why it didn't take much time for my POE interview, though. |
