We went through Portal, and found most of the officers didn't have a clue how to process a visa. Actually the first guy was going to let me drive through after seeing my visa in my passport. I told him we had paperwork we had to do etc. So he then asked us to park and go in. We processed the pets and imported my van with no issue. They just didn't really know how to process the K3 / K4 visa. Hopefully they did is all right!
03/31/09 - Just a quick update. The paperwork they did to import my van was wrong. We had to drive accross Houston to get a HS-7 form. Make sure the POE gives you this if you drive!
10/01/10 - Another update. When we crossed the border in 2009 - they wrote an A# on both my I-94 and my daughters. They were identical. When we went for our Biometrics they asked for my daughters A#. I told them she has never had one issued. He said the one in her passport would work. That's when I mentioned it was the same as mine. They then had to track down my daughter's A#. Which took a while. North Portal doesn't seem to know how to process K3/K4 visa's at all. |

Friendly and helpful immigration officers and quick processing - the longest part of entry was waiting for our luggage! |

Immigration Official miss-spelled my name on the I-94 and this caused a delay in me receiving my SSN. |

My fiance spent maybe 3 minutes in front of the immigration officer. It seemed like she was rushing people to get out of there.
She asked him these questions:
how did you meet?
when did you meet in person?
what does you fiancee do for a living?
The whole time my fiance was answering these questions, he noticed that she almost did not pay attention to it as she was so busy stamping and checking the documents he handed to her.
The last question, my fiance did not finish answering yet and was told, "okay, you're done. you can go."
no complaints here at all! |
