I was with my two children, and there were people on both lines. they do not let me stand in line, the Customs has taken brown envelopes and brought me into a room where two other customs have typed something and have just taken my fingerprint.i reported at this level the change of address. we are go take our luggage after 10 minutes despite the crowds at jfk. |

Was really easy. We came to Terminal 1 at JFK. Asked what line to get into (citizen or visitor), the person told us to go straight to secondary office without standing in any lines at all. When we came there, there were no other people. They took passports, customs form, and brown envelope, opened it, told us to sit. After 2 minutes asked to come up and took fingerprints and photo, asked when we're getting married, put stamps in passport and told us we can go through the door to get luggage. We came out one of the first people from the plane to pass through passport control. It took no more than 5 minutes total. |

Immigration officer was courteous and humorous. Everything was simple and quick, took all but 5 minutes.
(What we didn't know and weren't asked about was the payment of the immigration fee to get the actual green card produced. We found out later when nothing arrived in the projected time and called USCIS. SSN was also not produced automatically as requested and offered on form and we had to visit the social security office in person to get things on the way. Both cards have since arrived.) |
