I landed at 7pm and waited to speak to the IO for 3 hours.
After a short interview (20 mins)my passport was stamped. I originally arrived on 4th March but she stamped the 5th on the passport as by the time I got out of there it was 11pm |

Process was fairly quick and simple. Upon arrival at JFK, we moved towards immigration. There were various queues for US citizens and Permanent residents, and others for other nationals and visa persons. I inquired from an attendant which queue to join as i had my Immigrant visa and my Brown sealed envelope packet on me. She didnt let me join any queue, but brought me along to a room at the back where some immigration officers were. The took my passport, scanned the biometric page, scanned the immigrant visa, and took my sealed brown envelope from me. A digital facial picture of me was taken and my finger print scans were taken. i was made to sign a form and thumb print it. She confirmed if my to be us address is same as the intended address used during the processing. She then stamped my passport page with the immigrant visa and said to me welcome to America, and that, the endorsed immigrant visa serves as a temporary greencard for 1 year until i receive my Permanent green card itself through mail which could take a maximum of six months to receive or much earlier too.Whole process took less than 10 minutes.I proceeded to luggage reclaim, went through customs and through to arrivals where my wife and son were waiting for me. Finally together with my family |

The whole process took about 1 hour. Arrived and made our way to the "Visitor" lane where we were #5 or #6. Officer asked when did we get married then told us to wait for another officer to escort my wife to the secondary room. Wife said she was the only one in the secondary room so she was in and out quick. Only questions asked were how did we meet..We ended up waiting a few hours for the connecting flight..Overall, easy process. |

On arrival asked an agent which line to enter and they said the visitor line. The agent there processed a few things and took my fingerprints digitally before telling my wife that this process would take a while and that she should collect our bags and wait downstairs at baggage claim.
I was then sent to desk 74 which appears to be for processing all new immigrants. They took a physically fingerprint of my index finger there using black ink on two sides of a particular form, and also had me sign my signature in a box. After that it was sit around for about 20 minutes while he processed some stuff at his desk. After that i was called his desk and he gave me my completed passport including entry stamp with my alien number on the stamp, and a note explaining what the stamp could be used for, and that my green card would arrive in 4-6 months. |

We met her plane on time. Many others emerged from immigration, and the lobby gradually emptied. 4 hours later she emerged! The officer did not have time to look through her packet from our Embassy, so he had her wait until all other non-US passengers were processed! |
