Our POE experience was just fine. We arrived at dawn on a Friday morning, and were just about the only ones going through this process as far as I could tell. The place was deserted once our fellow passengers went through. Our immigration officer reminded me of Liberace and was very friendly. All in all, very smooth, fast, and pleasant. Which was good because we were exhausted after being on planes and in airports for over 24 hours. Still went to visit the Statue of Liberty, though, while we were in the area! :-) |

We saved HEAPS of time by approaching a supervisor rather than joining the line. He looked after us while we waited for them to open the magic envelope, directing us to go get our luggage to save us time later, and letting us sit down to wait. |

Just waited 25 mins until they had cleared all other passengers off the plane. No actual questions asked at all, just a general chat not about immigration. Friendly POE |

Pretty quick and and easy - After enduring the usual long queue at the POE immigration desks the friendly POE officer explained how to proceed. Went to the office and just handed over the brown envelope and passport... sat for about 5-10 minutes... Hey Presto! Passport was handed back with an EAD stamp on the back of the I-94 and a 'Welcome to America" comment! |
