They were very nice, although they have "so few of these types of visas" that everyone had to watch the one guy do it. It took a bit longer because of it. They also mixed up the Petition expiry date with the visa expiry date, so they thought that the 19th was when my visa expired, which was quite stressful. We drove over with a U-Haul truck which they didn't really examine and they didn't even look in the cab because I had my dog with me who barked at them and scared them..lol. They didn't even ask if he had his shots or license.
- ARRGHH!!! - When I finally went to apply for my social security card... turns out, the border / immigration ppl did NOT give me an I-94 - so no SSN for me.. now I have more delays and paperwork to do, through no fault of my own!! HOW FRUSTRATING!!! |

When I arrived, the immigration officer took my brown envelope and standard fingerprints and took me to the secondary interview room... or so I thought. It turned out to be a waiting room for a secondary interviews. I was 14th in the queue!!! Dingy, windowless room, without any facilities or A/C. Last decorated in early 70-ies by the look of it. Not even a water dispenser! The rest of the people waiting with me were from either Mexico or some other South American country but I couldn't tell which. After hour and a half of waiting I was finally seen by another immigration officer. That was the good part as all in all took less than 5 minutes. He looked through the paperwork and but only wanted to see the medical report really. So just as I put all my bags down, we were done! All in all not a bad experience. Just wish the waiting was shorter and the conditions in the waiting room better. Nobody gave me I-94 to fill in and I didn't realise I needed it until I started to get the papers for AOS together. Mayor hassle - CBP refused to do anything about it and passed me on to USCIS who passed me back to CBP and it went on for over a month. Finally, one Infopass appointment letter, I was told I don't need I-94 to submit AOS paperwork!!! |
