Upon arrival, I was directed to the tourist/visitor lane. As expected, the lines were swamped with people. I knew I wouldn't make my connecting flight if I didn't try (several times) asking for a lane change.
After much persuasion, one of the staff gave in and allowed me to move to the line for residents and citizens. The immigration officer was very pleasant. He saw my big brown envelope and he said " I like new immigrants because I was an immigrant at one point. " He entered my information in his system, took my fingerprints, asked me about my connecting flight and who would pick me up at the airport, and sent me on my way.
Overall, I'd say give yourself enough time to make your connecting flight when making flight reservations. My flight was originally a direct flight to MSP but because of a delay, the airlines arranged for me to arrive at LAX with very little time for the connecting flight. |

I had a connecting flight so was in a hurry and didn't find out which office my yellow folder would end up at. Hopefully it has made it to Seattle! |
