Things went smooth....his flight came in at 11:20 PM and he was out before 12:00AM...he said he was only asked 2 questions.....how long have you known your fiance and are you aware you have 90 dys to get married...

JFK is so darn busy with foreigners coming into the country they don't have time to fool around. If they don't have some reason to suspect you of something - they're not going to give you any trouble at all.
Basically he said, "Give me your packet." He took it, opened it, looked at our pictures and said, "You two look cute together!" And then he said, "Congratulations" and took her to the other area where she gave some papers. And they took them and then pointed the way to the exit and said she was done! That was it! |

Airport experience was super easy. we were both ushered into the screening room, and had to wait a few minutes, then Olesya's biometrics were taken and both our passports were stamped and we were on our way. Maybe we were lucky?? After leaving the airport, NY was not so easy, here's a tip learned the hard way: don't stretch out on the floor and sleep in port authority bus terminal, no matter how long you've been awake already, or the police will become very suspicious!-better yet-spend the extra couple hundred dollars and fly to the midwest instead of going by greyhound! (we had been about a year in India, where sleeping on the ground in transport hubs is totally common)-- reverse culture shock!! |
