Easy!!
Flight info: Bangalore - Frankfurt - Denver
Frankfurt:
Had only 80 minutes lay over time, could get to the gates within 20 minutes. Had spare time, smoking zones available
Denver:
Arrived on time and walked to the immigration check. 14 counters. Had the customs declaration form filled in and ready. Was called by the lady at counter 14, she asked for the passport and customs form. took my fingerprints and asked me to follow her to the room for the immigrants checking in.
One officer stood in behind the desk in the room. I was only one at the moment so he called me right up and had me sign a form. Then took fingerprints of my index finger. Asked me to be seated and then processed my paperwork. Sealed the passport page next to IR Visa page and said that it would be my temporary Permanent Resident (green) Card until it is sent to me. He said it would take max of 2 months and said I was good to go. I asked him about what the process for SSN was and he asked me to visit the local SSN office near my US address.

Received a warm welcome. Asked to wait for other passengers to get through POE first. After handing over my documents and providing address for green card to be send I was wished well. It didn't take more than 30 minutes. |

Airport was pretty much empty, no more than 10 people lining up at immigration when I got there. CBP officer went through the documentation on the spot, asked a couple of easy questions and let me go.
I was a bit surprised at first when I wasn't given the I-94, but then learned that it's not given out anymore, now it's online! (see https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_I-94)
The officer forgot to welcome me to the USA, but whatever. All done in 10 minutes. Next! |

Arrived at Denver airport, lined up in the "visitors" line at passport control.once it was my turn I informed the nice smiley man I was traveling on a k1 Visa and handed me my envelope.he opened it briefly looked thorough it and then explained we have 90days to marry and then said as otherwise you will have to start this process all over and I'm pretty sure you don't want that and then he winked !!He then also explained to the k1 was a one entry visa .took my finger prints and then said ok Jodie,I'm sure your fiance is waiting out there for you so I won't keep you any longer ,welcome to America!!He then stamped my passport and I was on my way .so all in all a good easy experience.so happy that I'm now reunited with my future husband |
